Double vinyl LP pressing. 2019 release from the iconic pop superstar. Madame X is the fourteenth studio album by singer and songwriter Madonna on Interscope Records. The album follows Rebel Heart. Madonna relocated to Lisbon, Portugal in 2017. She met artists, painters, and musicians. She decided to record an album based on her musical experience in the Portuguese city, which she referred to be "a melting pot of culture musically, from Angola to Guinea-Bissau to Spain to Brazil to France to Cape Verde".

Experimental pop at its best
One of the best album of 2019. A strong reinvention and a brand new sound by the queen of pop. It is truly a global record with various diverse influences like Portuguese fado music, Brazilian funk music and Batuque music some of which have never been used in American pop music. It is experimental pop at it's best.Highly recommended.

Best pop music of 2019
This is truly pop music at its best. I am a big fan of Madonna and I have listened to all of her album as well as her sound track movies album. Every of her album is different and this time she came up with different music from around the world. Each track of madame x is different. There is fado music from Portugal, batuke from Cape Verde and so many innovative music which have never been heard or played by any contemporaries artists. Madonna is truly a global artist and very brave for taking the road less travelled by.Highly recommend this Madame x album. All the other artists sound the same and repetitive but Madonna is not.

Back To Form
This is a big swerve away from the crowd pleasing records of her earlier career but it's a crazy journey from latino reggaeton to a trippy power ballad via a couple of house bangers and some bonkers and courageous interludes. This album is never boring and on the whole will keep you smiling and most importantly, dancing. She's seriously back on top...

The Most Fluid Madonna Album Since Confessions
Madonna ensures that all her albums are different. The same applies here. I don't get the negativity from some surrounding this album. The vibe is latin - she made it clear that was the case since saying her latest stuff was inspired by Portugal and its music. Medellin is a good opener but the album gets better as it progresses. Dark Ballet is, in my opinion the weak link, it's as if Beautiful Game was recorded, got tired of but was included because fans wanted it to be, but it sounds like a half finished song that just needed something but nobody could decide what.God Control is fabulous. "We lost God Control" sings a choir in the style of Like A Prayer but with a 70's Disco beat a la Michael Jackson. Future is a good track and Batuka is simple and quite sweet while being rhythmic and drum lead. Killers Who Are Partying is a bit of self indulgence, it's as if she has chosen a chocolate in a bag of sweets but didn't really enjoy it. Crave is in my opinion, a bit uninspiring and is there just for the sake of it. I liked Crazy because it reminded me of Cheris and True Blue. Come Alive is a highlight and Extreme Occident is a nice ballad. Faz Gostoso is a good song and Bitch I'm Loca builds us up to the end of the album with possibly the three strongest tracks. I Don't search, I find is house trippy and Looking For Mercy is one of her strongest ballads. I Rise concludes a flowing, cohesive album and the style suits Madonna. If you are expecting True Blue MkII then you are not going to be happy. If you expect a stand alone Madonna album that is full of acoustic and rhythm then you'll like this album. I think it's her best album for over a decade and is miles ahead of the disjointed Rebel Heart that had no flow or theme. A great album.

Brilliant fresh album
Give this album a try, with an open mind, and you will be amazed how fresh and different it sounds to anything else Madonna has done before. It's nostalgic and poignant at times, but very positive. Yes, it draws from many coultures, that's why it's a winner.I hear people complaining it has no commercial bangers, except Medellin. That's why I love it. There's no need to record another Conessions or Ray of Light. It's truly fresh and and that's why I love it.Great job!P.S. Update after a few months of listening to Madame X- still LOVE it and every time discover something new. And the vinyl sound quality is SUPERB! :)

Oh dear they got the vocals so wrong, lost the instruments and over processed the recording
This is a strange recording, Madonna s vocals are rich, full and seem to be over processed. It was only later that I realised that they had been auto-tuned to within and inch of their lives hence the strange weird distorted vocal undertone. The bass is unclear lacking definition, indeed it is difficult to say what instrument(s) created the sound. The piano has a weird warm plummy reverb, choirs lack dynamic or vocal range. Other instruments and sounds seem to be just a wall of noise. There is a lot going on but it sounds a “mush”. The high end e.g the piano and strings sound, well wrong. This recording sounds as if it has been over-processed or someone did not know when to stop fiddling.A real shame this album could have been great.I have not set out to write reviews of the music content as “beauty is in the ears of the listener”. These reviews are about the quality (or not) of the recorded sound. To read about how the reviews are done please see my profile. • Clarity – reasonable, lacks detail • Channel separation – very good • Channel balance – good, well defined but lacking that something • Sound Stage – this recording has a good sound, but it’s all vocals and bass with little other detail and definition • Distortion – none audible • Compression – unclear as the recording seems to have been balanced down to vocals, bass and other • Atmosphere – reasonable but mostly Madonna s breathing • Bass – low frequencies - overwhelming on some tracks tends to be unsubtle and dominate the recording. It is crisp but seems to have little range • Treble – high frequencies – other than the vocals the mid to higher range instruments seem to only make guest appearances e.g. the piano which sounds strange, almost artificially rich • Vocals- Oh dear, Madonna is not the greatest vocalist but I’ve liked her voice in the past. Reviewing this recording it seemed wrong and I kept listening but could not put my finger on what was wrong. The vocals seemed distorted and plain wrong, then I realised that the vocals, Madonna s in particular had been auto-tuned to death. Hence why they sounded wrong. As a general rule of thumb recordings from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s are nearly always better on the original vinyl. Remasters often fail to please as it’s just not possible to make a silk purse from a sows ear, i.e. the original recording lacks the necessary detail to be processed digitally and show an audible improvement. Indeed such processing can make the sound worse.Modern recordings which have been processed digitally from start to finish can be as good as vinyl. CD’s are often unfairly criticised for being poor quality. This is not the case, it is the original recording or the process which is to blame. Modern “remasters” can both enhance and degrade a recording. The statement GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) is the limiting factor. Ignore this at your cost.
