What is the microphone for??

There shouldn’t be a microphone on it.

Can you have multiple colors on the leds at once like pictured?

No you cant. The pictures are a bit misleading. These lights work great so don't get me wrong, but the lights don't work in dual mode. Just a single color light will be displayed at once.

Does the tv have to be on for the lights to work?

No the lights can work independently or if plugged into the tv they turn on and off with the tv

Does this turn off automatically when the tv is turned off?

For the most majority of TVs, Yes.
