PanPastel Artist Pastels by GOLDEN, 20 Color Palette Tray, Professional Artist Pastels

Purchased for a pastel artist. He stated these hold his pan pastels perfectly. He has two sets of 20 pan pastels which he plans to divide between two of these trays. This item is just what he wanted but could not find at local art stores. The price was very competitive and reasonable for the quality. Other reviewers spoke of possible flimsy quality. The artist who received this item told me that the trays hold his pastels and enable him to sort and work with the ones he chooses for a particular project, so the quality is just fine.

I am new to pan pastels, having just picked up my first set of ten in the painting colors. The reviews for this product were good so decided to make this purchase at the same time. The vinyl used in this is very clear, flexible, but not brittle. I believe it will work beautifully for a very long time, with moderate care in handling. The pans fit in snugly, and indeed may pose some problem in trying to remove them, so keep that in mind when you consider where you choose to place your colors. The lid seals off each pan area so that there is minimal cross contact of the colors. I had two of my pastel pans arrive with some crumbling on the surface. The other 8 were intact. I am not concerned that the pastels have lost value or use with the crumbling, but I was concerned that the powdered pigments would spill over the other pans. The lid construction prevents this from happening.Bottom line for me is that this is a reasonable price for a product that is of excellent quality materials, and very serviceable design.

Pan pastels are wonderful for my crafting projects. The pigment is lovely.

I have under 20 pan pastels and they sat in a large flat box that folded up. This is fine if I'm working at an art fair, but packing each one up was getting time consuming and I would worry about getting separated, even if stacked. And then to set up again takes time. What this tray does is keep everything ready to go all the time and is thin so doesn't take up a lot of space. The cover goes over the top and everything is protected and clean. It's great. On the down size it's a bit on the flimsy side, meaning it should be on a stable surface to use well. I don't think I would keep this on my lap and feel confident that the tray wouldn't bend. The pastels sit well in their spaces and in general is really excellent. I'm VERY happy I have this. I'm always ready to go with no set up time.

I haven't used them very much yet, but what I have done with them, they are fun to work with for a background. I've done one painting and finished it with colored pencils.

I wanted to store my boxes of pan pastels with minimal space. These pastel storage containers keep my pans safe and flat allowing me to stack easily and save a lot of shelf space. The see thru plastic allows me to choose the color much easier than when I stored them in boxes. Such a great find. I will be buying more in the future.

Having bought several sets of PanPastels without the trays I purchased a set to house them. I am pleasantly pleased with them, I do not find them flimsy at all, they are the same trays used in the largest set availble, they are durable and hold the Pans tightly in the tray. These stack nicely and are the perfect storage solution for Pans, especialy if you purchased a stack set that does not have lids.Definately worth the investment!
