Anker USB C to Micro USB Adapter has spec compliant CC termination! A fine little adapter for your old USB A-to-MicroUSB cable
Benson here again, continuing my reviews of USB Type-C legacy cables, adapters, and accessories. Today I am reviewing "Anker USB-C to Micro USB Adapter" by Anker. This comes in a convenient 2-pack. Let's check spec compliance : I'm using my trusty Chromebook Pixel 2015 with the Chromium Twinkie USB-PD Sniffer, available on Amazon from Plugable : Plugable USB 3.1 Type-C (USB-C) Power Delivery Sniffer For my first test, I've got the Anker MicroUSB Adapter plugged into a good quality (itself capable of >2.4A) Micro-B cable from Belkin. (this one: Belkin 6-Foot 2.0 USB Type C (USB-C) to Micro USB Charge Cable, USB-C Certified ) . That is then plugged Apple proprietary MacBook charger capable of 5.2V at 2.4A. The Type-C end is plugged into Twinkie, acting as a pass through to Chromebook Pixel 2015. Picture attached! First let's run the ectool command from Pixel's command line to check what Pixel thinks is happening on its USB-C ports : localhost ~ # ectool --dev 1 usbpdpower Port 0: SNK Charger Proprietary 4744mV / 2400mA, max 5000mV / 2400mA / 12000mW Port 1: SRC So far so good. Pixel identifies the charger as a Proprietary type adapter, and has negotiated 2.4A. Let's see what Twinkie (the USB PD sniffer) says : > tw cc CC1 = 22 mV ; CC2 = 434 mV The tw cc command reads the current voltage values from the CC pins. As you can see here, CC2 pin has a value of 434mV. Referring to the USB Type-C Specification Table 4-25 Voltage on Sink CC pins, this voltage falls right in the middle of the range allowed for vRd-USB, meaning that yes, this MicroUSB adapter has the correct 56kΩ pullup resistor! One more command : > tw vbus VBUS = 4818 mV ; -2450 mA The tw vbus command uses twinkie's current and voltage meter ability. As you can see, the laptop is pulling just around 2.4A of current at 4.818V from the Apple adapter. For a HighSpeed USB 2.0 data test, I’ve hooked my Nexus 5X to my Chromebook Pixel via the Anker MicroUSB adapter + Belkin MicroUSB cable to test large file transfer via MTP. It just works, no problem! Now for more subjective judgments of this adapter : The Anker adapter has a black glossy overmold with the Anker logo on it. The whole thing is very small, barely larger than the Type-C or Micro-B connectors on both ends. The Type-C plug on this adapter is a very unique for a Micro-B adapter because in typical Anker fashion, it uses a very good quality plug made with a deep-draw extrusion process. The plug is a single continuous piece of metal all the way around, meaning it's stronger than other stamped type plugs. This type of plug is the same kind that is used on all of Google and Apple's Type-C plugs, and the quality shows here. In conclusion : A high quality charging and data sync MicroUSB Adapter from Anker! The adapter is a great safe way to breathe new life into your old A-to-MicroUSB cables for use with newer USB Type-C devices such as Nexus 6P/5X or Pixel devices. It is also future proof for fast charging USB Type-C devices to come!

They work well
Updated review: I have now spent some time with these adapters. They work really well. I keep them primarily in my cars where I share cables with the rest of my family. They have proven invaluable. I earlier reported problems with the adapter holding on to the cable. This is where your mileage may vary. Depending upon your cable and device you may find differences in how tight they hold. Even on the loosest fitting cable, they are still snug enough that they won't fall off easily. I am considering getting more to place in other common spaces. Original review: For starters, they work. I keep one in the car and another laying around the house. You plug one end into your device and your Micro USB plug into the other end. They are small. This is both a plus and a minus. The plus is that they aren't very obtrusive when attached to your device. The minus is that they can be easily lost. So far, I haven't lost mine yet....keeping my fingers crossed. I have a Nexus 6P. I found that they are very stiff/tight to insert into my phone. The micro USB end is much looser. As a result, when you go to unplug, the cable comes off then you have to pull the adapter out. I would have preferred it to hold tighter to the cable and be able to safely leave it there. This was enough of an annoyance to me that I bought a USB to USB-C cable for my primary charging station (I have the one that came with it installed elsewhere).

Great little adapters to bring new life to your legacy cables and chargers
I recently bought a Nexus 6P phone and knew that I would have to purchase new cables and possibly new chargers. What I didn't know was there was an issue with many chargers and cables being sold as USB-C compliant. The issues ranged from poor data propagation to improper power connections, some causing electrical damage. Being very weary, I did some research and found that a Google engineer by the name of Benson Leung had been certifying different cables and adapters. These were listed as "Approved". I can tell you all that I have bought two sets of these adapters and LOVE them! The adapters are made of plastic, but feel very sturdy. When you plug them into the charging port of the phone, it is a very solid connection. The only thing I am conscious of when plugged in is to make sure I'm careful of the combined length of the cable micro-USB connector + the adapter. They are also inexpensive enough that I am able to purchase a couple packs in order to continue to use my existing chargers...even those with built-in micro USB connectors. The only downside is they don't charge as fast as a straight USB-C to USB-C cable/charger combinations. That isn't a fault of the adapter. These adapters have brought new life into my legacy micro-USB cables and will help out in a pinch. They are made by a solid company that I have come to respect for their quality of craftsmanship. I hope this review gives you some additional insight into these little gems and hope you find these adapters as reliable as I have!

Works
UPDATE: I got 2 packs of these for a total of 4 adapters. 3 out of 4 are working fine. But 1 gives me fits. I've changed the USB cable and the charger to isolate the adapter as the problem. It just doesn't work properly. My phone will charge 10% or so then stop charging until I unplug and replug in the cord. If I try to use the phone it can actually lose charge while plugged in. But I only get this issue with 1 out of the 4 adapters that I bought. So they aren't foolproof, but when they do work they work great. The other 3 are working perfectly fine. They lost 1 star for unreliability. ORIGINAL REVIEW These work exactly like they are supposed to work. They don't turn every cord and charger into a QuickCharge system, but they do convert any micro USB cable into a USB C charging cable. They will turn a micro USB cable into a Quick Charger cable IF and ONLY IF you have a Quick Charge plug to plug your cable into AND the micro USB cable is a quality cable. This will not work with super thin junk cables. (Tested with a micro USB cable and LG QuickCharge 2.0 charger) This is the perfect cheap way to convert my extensive system of USB plugs and cords in my office, car, and various rooms of my house into function USB chargers without replacing all the cords and plugs (which costs a lot more) You don't get the quick charging feature doing this, but it will charge your USB C device the same way the cords used to charge your micro USB devices...slowly but surely. Plus if you have micro USB devices still in use in your house like I do as well, you still have all the charging cables for them plugged in. Just remove this adapter.

BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE! -Ankers' stuff is well worth the premium!
First-off, The product is great. If this is what you need it will work every time. The rest of the review, I want to talk about Anker as the brand. Meaning ALL of their products. I have learned some frustrating lessons over the last few years. Thinking all cables, adapters, and "gizmos" are created equal, is a mistake. Paying a little more gets you ALOT more in this case. After becoming frustrated with "sub-par" cables I opted for a premium brand, Anker. After discovering Ankers' quality and customer service, I have slowly but steadily been replacing everything I interact with on a daily basis to an Anker branded product (I did a quick count in my head and I have over 20 different Anker products). Anytime I'm in the market for something "electronic" or something I own breaks I check for an Anker option 1st. I don't research, read reviews, compare features, compare prices, etc, etc. I trust they are doing that for me and won't sell me junk. So far, so good. Everything I've gotten from Anker has exceeded my expectations. Out of all the Anker products I've owned over the years, I called customer service once. They had a replacement at my door in 24 hours, no questions, no problems, no pictures, etc... (And that was for something I broke by mis-using it.) Unless you want to complain that they are a little more expensive, there is not one critical or negative thing I can say about them. There are hands down, my go-to company for things like this. "Buy Once, Cry Once!"

I bought these so that I could use a 32GB ...
I bought these so that I could use a 32GB OTG USB micro drive on my new phone which has a USB C port. They did not work for this purpose. I have also been having trouble using them as converters for car chargers and other USB micro cables. Perhaps this is the cables fault and not the converter, but since my primary use was for my USB drive, the fact that don't work for other charging and data cables is secondary. UPDATE: I was contacted by Anker about this review and it was pointed out to me that it does state in the product description that these will not work with OTG drives. It was the last line of the description and chances are I did not get that far. Regardless, they offered to refund my money for a return. I responded that for the $7 that I paid, it wasn't worth it. I'd keep them to use with my power adapters. The then offered to just refund my money without the return, I could keep the item as their gift. I will say that for their intended purpose, they work just as advertised. and their customer service is stellar. I wish there was the option to do 4.5 stars, because I don't believe any product is perfect. For example these could have a keychain lanyard or be different colors, but Because this does exactly what it says. I'm changing my rating to 5.

Always stick with Anker Tech accessories. They're the best
I have a plethora of micro usb cables. Every device I've owned comes with them, I've bought a few more durable ones and quite literally they are laying in abundance all around the house, the car and the office. So enter the google pixel xl phone. A FABULOUS phone (but I'm not here to write about it) but it comes with a type C jack, not a micro usb. What to do what to do what to do. And adapter! Figuring that I couldn't be the first person with this problem I turned to my friend Amazon here and asked what sort of adapters they sell. Bingo, Anker makes an adapter. When I have my choice of technology accessories I will ALWAYS go with Anker first and this was no exception. I've now purchased a few of these micro USB ---->type C adapter nubbins from anker and I could not be happier. Best as I can tell this does not at all slow down charging. I use one in the car, one in the office and then on different plugs around the house. They get the job done every time. BOTTOM LINE: Look no further... if it's made by anker you know it will be good. And the price is reasonable enough. Probably cost them a nickel to make but never mind, they made it and I like it and don't begrudge them their profit at all

Anker delivers another great product in a tiny package!
Pros: - Work well with my past micro USB cables - Quality build Cons: - They're small and can get lost easily - None other than that If you're looking for simple way to make use of your old micro USB cables in our new USB-C world, these little converters for you! Amazon once didn't police the USB-C cables being sold but now they've cracked down so you have plenty of compatible options. I consider myself to having brand loyalty after using a product and really experiencing the quality of what they deliver. I've had tried many bad brands and few good brands. Anker is one of those brands that has yet to let me down. These little adapters are great like all of the other Anker products I've purchased! These little adapters have a tight fit in your old micro USB cables and will not come loose easily. If you want to leave them on your old cables, you won't need to worry about these coming off and being lost very easily. I have a plethora of old micro USB cables and these fit nice and snug on them all. I've simply just fit them to my old cables and now they're ready to go when I'm on the go.

Inte för USB-C
Tänk på att detta är micro-USB till USB-C och inte tvärtom som jag behövde och som det står i rubrik och text. Blev en retur.
