Adora 18-inch Doll Amazing Girls Aurora (Amazon Exclusive)

This is my first Adora doll, and I am very pleasantly surprised. I had been worried that the doll's hair would be thin and dry, based on some negative reviews I saw on older dolls, but it's thick and smooth, and cut well. The rooting can look a bit sparse from some directions, but the actual amount of hair is generous; it's just rooted in an odd pattern, reminiscent of an Our Generation doll or a Journey Girl. The hair itself is also a gorgeous shade of blue-silver, with a pale-blue/aqua highlight on one side. Her bangs are well-cut and don't feel stiff. Her eyes are actually metallic sliver, so they sparkled just as much as her outfit and hair. They close completely when she lies down.The doll's outfit is very nice: a sparkly lycra dress, a shiny metallic magenta belt (which is completely separate from the dress and has a padded feel to it), a pair of sparkly bracers that close with velcro, matching sparkly boots, a sparkly magenta headband (hard but with fabric over the top), and a pair of white underwear. The boots are somewhat difficult to get on; a child might need help from an adult. The dress has a nice drape to it. I kind of wish the belt didn't have an A on it, but maybe came with a sticker sheet of different initials so that kids could give the doll a different name if they wanted, but it's still a nice belt. The headband doesn't sit completely flat against her head because it's hard on the inside, but looks a little more like a crown; it still works fine to hold her hair back, though.The biggest surprise was the design of the doll's neck joint. It's not like any I've seen before; the joint is at the bottom of her neck, rather that at the top beneath her chin like in a Journey Girl, and can rotate, tilt, or turn in any direction, unlike an American Girl or Our Generation doll. The joint moves easily - so easily that I'm a little worried it won't hold up over time - but seems to stay where you put it. The doll has a chest plate and a soft torso, like a Journey Girl, but the chest plate extends lower and the doll's body is sewn to have a bit of a rump. The fabric torso isn't an exact match to her skintone but I don't mind. She seems solidly constructed.Her face is very cute and has a tender, warm smile that I find endearing. My only complaint is a spot of blush in the middle of her forehead that makes it look like she hit her head - but her bangs cover this up completely. Finally, she comes in a nice box, tied in with ribbons and an elastic (no plastic ties! 8D) that made for the easiest de-boxing I've ever met. She comes with a little trading card with an introduction that's also very cute. Her job as a superhero is to remind people that they can always achieve their dreams!Overall, this is a very nice doll with unique coloring and a great outfit who is certainly worth $40 and is a truly "amazing" deal at $20. I'll definitely be buying more Amazing Girls!

She is really well made with a range of motion at the joints of her body. Beautifully silky hair that can be brushed. I really love the detail of her toes. Will get more of the series in the future. I got her on sale so she was a great value for the money.

This is the third Adora doll I've bought. They are all really well made dolls. Definitely compare to the quality of American Girl dolls for a fraction of the price. This little cutie is sparkly and fun. Her unique hair is beautiful. Her outfit and boots are glittery and well made. She has an amazing face and her eyes are so pretty. Oh, and the packaging is awesome. She comes in a beautiful gift box with tissue paper , making her very giftable! I highly recommend any of these dolls. Aurora is perfect if your little one likes sparkles super heroes, or anything unique. I think anyone would love her!

I have always searched far and wide to find amazing dolls for my daughters, granddaughters, and now my great granddaughters. It hasn't been easy with a tight budget. I bought some Journey dolls that were wonderful but then I ordered this doll because she is so unique and I am very impressed with the doll as well as the packaging. If you want to give a special gift to a little princess this is the one to buy. Not only is the doll presented elegantly but so is each outfit for her. The Journey dolls are beautiful too but their box is brown cardboard. The Adora dolls and outfits will surely impress.
