If the sand stops, work it a little
I have begun collecting hour glasses of various times and colors. I use them in my classroom to time how long I want my students to work on a particular activity. I purchased this to add to my collection. The time runs true. When I first took it out of the box, it would stick occasionally. The sand would just stop. I don't know if there was debris of some kind blocking the opening or if the sand was clumping. Either way, a little shake would get it on its way. While this would completely defeat the purpose of this purchase, I gave it to one of my ADD students and instructed him to keep the sand flowing. After it sticking 3 or 4 times, whatever was keeping the sand from flowing freely was dislodged. It now flows continuously every single time. I could see how this might drive a person crazy if they have a purpose for this aside from just decoration and they don't have an ADD child at hand. But I did, and it works perfectly now.

That being said I love this! It looks nice
Be aware this is glass as stated in the description so if you have a child who throws things or is going to be playing with this maybe look for another option. That being said I love this! It looks nice, doesn't feel cheap, and is exactly what we needed. My child has ADHD. This timer has been an awesome motivator. It is just long enough to get a chunk of work done. Having the visual right there without a countdown or worrying about "how long has it been" or "how much longer" is great. We flip the timer and work for that long then take a short break. I use it with my other children to "race against the timer" to either see if they can complete a task or guess how much they can finish.

Timed it five times: mean=13m39s, sd=1m15s
Timed it five times (mean=13m39s, sd=1m15s): 12m17s, 13m06s, 14m57s, 12m55s, 15m01sIts height is about 160 mm / 6.3" (~1cm longer than an iPhone 6 Plus)The photo shows it between IKEA's KLOCKIS and my 16 oz cup. It's thin and light while sturdy enough to travel from China to the U.S. East Coast in one piece :-)Giving it four stars because the mean is not within one SD of the 15 minutes claimed.(In a normal/Gaussian distribution of data, about two-thirds of the data values will fall within one standard deviation)

Just right.
This is an attractive and perfectly functioning hourglass. I've had it for a few months now, and the grains fall completely every time - no clumps - no clogs. It sits on my work desk and acts as a "task timer" to prevent me from lingering over items, so it gets used up to twenty times a day and has never failed. The sand is uniform, and the blue color is as shown. The base is flat enough to sit solidly on my desk without falling over, (even when I crash into the desk and nearly fall over). When all of the sand has gone through it, there is only the slightest blue powder haze left in the upper chamber, and a soft tap removes it.

a good hourglass. Does exactly what it's supposed to
It's exactly as specified, a good hourglass. Does exactly what it's supposed to. Although there is a piece of something white inside it-- looks like a piece of bone or something? I can't get to it without breaking the glass, so I ignore it, and most times I don't even see it. A good buy for the price! Would buy it again.

Not that you want to be rough with them but I have moved twice for my job and it always gets thrown in my "desk box" when I move
When I got this in the mail I almost expected it to be broken but these are surprisingly strong. Not that you want to be rough with them but I have moved twice for my job and it always gets thrown in my "desk box" when I move and it's held up great. I might get one of a different color later on but it's a nice whimsical item to have at my desk and my employees like fiddling with it.

Maybe I got a defective one idk
It’s nice, but has small black marks on the glass which will not come off. Wishing I would’ve just bought one at the at home store now. I hate returning stuff especially glass through the mail so I’ll still be giving it as a gift. Just disappointed.

perfect!
Exactly what I needed! I was looking for a small trinket to take to my NaNoWriMo write-ins and this fit the ticket. It's the right shade of blue, came intact and on time and is only a few seconds off for 15 mins. (yes, I did time it.)It's been very fun to use and wrapped in a towel, it travels very well. Extremely happy with this!
