Directionless book
Time waste to read the book, show one dimension of the problem. Looks like authors got dictation from CCP and wrote this book. Honestly , only problems are discussed without solutions which any novice person can identify problem. Again I say it's sheer waste of money and time.

Dangers of underestimating the Pakistan-China alliance for India
This book is both timely & extremely pertinent to the current stand off in Ladakh between India & China. It is a book that every Pakistani, Indian & Kashmiri analyst, academic or a political scientist needs to take note of. The author has a deep understanding of millitary strategy, ideology & politics of south Asia & China. His views are balanced, a political and based upon empirical evidence and detailed research. The author shines a spotlight on the secretive Pakistan-China alliance that's been burgeoning over that past two decades beyond the visual range of most political commentators & the existential threat that it poses India in the future. The author argues that Kashmir is the impediment to peace in south Asia & concludes that it can only be achieved in a peaceful settlement with Pakistan, thus freeing up the Indian army's resources to train & re-orientate it toward fighting a conventional war (vis-à-vis China) rather than its current role of counter insurgency in Kashmir.

A Candid Military and IR Review of India's Plight
The book is quite detailed. Building up on how India's Government has sequentially failed to strike a bargain with the China on the border dispute to how India has been magnanimous while our neighbours were busy developing border infrastructure; no detail escapes Sawhney's eye.I am taking the book slowly because there is a lot to digest. The review of India's War in the initial chapter was great but I felt it to be a bit too much information dense, especially the Siachen Conflict, where co-ordinates mean nothing in text (unless you're a cartographer) to the layman. A graphical representation of such area (NJ 9842 / Saltoro Range) could be a nice addition - although publishing delineating such sensitive frontiers can cause censorship.P.S.: In Page 124, Line 1 (Chapter - War is not an option), Author says India does not have anti-satellite capabilities. This is wrong or became wrong in 2019 with ASAT. But the overall picture will not shift or the precendent imposed by our military short-comings can not be overlooked.P.S.2: I might add more upon absorbing the book. But this book can easily last 2-3 Weeks or even a month.

Interesting Read
Good but quite repetitive. Could have summed it up in 250 pages instead of more than 400.
