What's the difference between the new 1080 vs 880?

The 880 has a fixed lens which means the only way to change the picture or screen size is to move the projector. The 1080 has a moving lens. It can zoom in/out without moving the projector. If you have a setup that rarely changes like for home movies or the projector is ceiling mounted, then a fixed lens is fine.

Anyone have recommendations a good external speaker that’s easy to connect?

Use a 3.5mm cable (like a regular headphone cable) with two (left and right) phono cables at the end. Connect to any external speakers that have phono inputs. May I recommend the Logitech Z906 5.1 speakers, they are affordable, very powerful (cinematic sound) and 5-star rated. Good luck my friend!

What is the throw distance on this projector? Im looking for something that can produce ~100in screen from about 11ft away with hd quality.

I have the projector about 13 ft. Away from my wall and the picture is 10 ft wide and 7 ft high. Unbelievable watching sports and movies in my own home !

If i connected this to my computer via hdmi cord, would the sound come from my computer or from the projector if i played a video?

You can select your audio out in Settings - Sound - Output. Your computer will recognize each device connected capable of sound output. Select the device you want to output your sound. Projectors have limited sound quality; I would output audio to a soundbar. For home use or very small groups I use a Bose soundbar.
