Whims Watercolor Quilt Kits Jenna's Horse Quilting Supplies

I enjoyed this project and my daughter has it hanging on her wall. I do recommend the product; I also recommend that you make a few changes.It has 5-stars worth of precut watercolor squares, precision cut and ready to go. All of the horse pieces are there and nicely shaped. You may find it a touch tricky to cut them from the supplied fabric, so take your time.I removed 1 star because I think the pattern could be greatly improved by a few extra steps. I've done a fair amount of do-it-yourself quilting and crafting so it wasn't a huge problem...it was just a surprise.First, notice that if you iron the horse over the watercolor squares, the lines of the squares show through. (Look closely at the photo.) I called when this happened and they basically said "yes, that's right." I didn't want a checkerboard horse, so I obtained additional fabric to re-do the horse. This time, I placed a layer of batting under the applique so that the horse kept a smooth surface. I used machine applique and outlined the horse and several of the edges (inner ear edge, jaw line) in dark thread.Next, before adding the yarn for the mane, I also "quilted" a mane. This way, if the yarn rots off in 30 years, the horse will still appear to have a mane. (You can skip this!)Note that the lovely green border fabric pictured is NOT included. I used a thin black border, followed by a dark burgundy, then a final thin black outer border. I also added a hanging sleeve on the back to pass a rod through and hang it straight.I haven't purchased another from this line, but I would. I'd just make sure to plan for* batting under the appliqued pieces* border fabric* hanging sleeveEnjoy!

Have not had time to sew it together yet but looks doable and promising
