I got this to make a “scout sheath” band for my knife. It is solid leather. This and durable. It worked great for my knife and several hunting buddies want me to do the same with their knives.

I have been searching through amazon to find belt blanks for leather craft projects. I was excited because the color was exactly what I was looking for, a rich brown, not too dark, not too light. The surface was soft, the leather had some stretch to it which was the first sign this was not going to be exactly what I was looking for. I wet the leather getting ready to carve in the design with my swivel knife and realized this was going to be tough for the bevel stamp to hold decent shadowing. Unfortunately, I bought two hoping the leather was a good choice for my project because the color was spot on, the leather was just too soft for it to hold the cutting and stamping the way I would have liked. If you looking for this to carve and stamp, look for something different, if your looking for a soft, smooth, leather strap with some stretch to it, this is your product.
