Too liberal
I had a difficult time coming up with the correct number of stars for this review. Three stars is all I could muster. From an educational standpoint (speaking specifically on the subject of teaching vocabulary), this curriculum is decent. Your child will be exposed to a multitude of words and learn how to be able to extract what they have seen in the book and apply it to their everyday language.Something that I am particularly irritable about is the large selection of stories that seem to have a "victim undertone" to them.Social justice warriors live to open old wounds and make them fresh again or focus on the nonexistant issues, all the while discounting reality and the real evil things that are happening right under their noses. Perhaps the authors could move away from writing such drivel. One could only hope. Ugh.It would be refreshing to see relevant stories that are much less liberal. Because of this, I don't plan to invest in this curriculum much longer. My older children can see right through the progressive jargon and they groan with irritation when they have to read paragraphs filled with propaganda. If you're of the liberal persuasion, you'll love this stuff. I'm not, so I'll be on the lookout for something better. Cathy Duffy's homeschooling website is chock full of other picks for learning and building vocabulary.

The answer I needed for teaching upper level ELLs vocabulary!
I bought these for use with an intermediate/advanced ESL class (high school). This is the perfect level for them. I really like the exercises that go along with the words, using a definition parts matching activity, finding synonyms and antonyms and then the best part is the reading passage at the end with the vocab words in it. Prior to this I was creating all of my own vocab materials and it was very time intensive. This is probably the only manufactured resource that I've ever used that I feel does a good job of getting the kids to practice the words in depth-- enough so that they seem to actually internalize the definitions. This does not come with the assessment book and I did have to purchase that separately. Also this takes a LONG TIME to grade, so if you are looking to give these out for a grade, know that it will take 10-15 minutes per packet to mark all of the answers.

Worthwhile Purchase
Really good workbooks to help my 14-yr old learn and improve his vocabulary. Lots of reading and then word practice. I wish it came with a device to make him actually use it without my nagging him! Lol. But aside from that, once he is forced to come off the video games to sit down and work in the book, the exercises are very good. Worthwhile purchase to help get him ready for high school, SAT, and college.

Bought for Prepping SSAT
I bought for this set to prep my daughter for the future SSAT. She is a 3rd grader and going to take SSAT when she will be in 5th grade, so we are starting early. I looked around as much as I could (both apps and workbooks) this is the best. Simple and straight-forward. Very through but not overwhelming to my daughter. She hates Spectrum workbooks (writing, reading, language art, and math) but she likes Wordly Wise. I am going to buy set for Book 4 too.

Challenging for my homescooler
I have used wordly wise with my 3 boys for homeschool and love it. Very challenging esp. if your child has reading comprehensive issues like mine. Its divided up by A-E with each chapter. At end of chapter I do a spelling test and the pink book gives a chapter test also.Great with knowing your how words fit in sentences and paragraphs. It doesn't do English like knowing your nouns and verbs, its more about vocabulary and comprehending what your reading.Couldn't be happier with Wordly Wise!

Very very necessary!
I've used Wordly Wise since I begin homeschoolin. this year my kid is in brick-and-mortar school but over the summer this is a requirement in our house. vocabulary is essential and WW wraps it up in a nice package. I cannot say enough about it, actually I can because you only get to write so much on these reviews!

Excellent!
A really good book to practise and learn SAT vocab. It comes with the answer key and a test booklet so that after doing the exercise, you can also test yourself. By doinf the exercise, It helps you memorize the vocab easily. This is the easiest and most effective way to learn SAT vocab instead of memorizing flashcards.
