Does a good job stopping chimney leaks.
This is an expensive product, but it works!!. I went to Utube to view how to apply it, and it goes on easily. I applied it to the top of my chimney, which stopped the leaks for many years, but they came back again. I called a chimney sweep for help, and he recommended putting the same Crown Coat about a foot down the sides from the top of the chimney. I did this, and no more leaks.

Works well and looks like a professional did it
Works well and looks like a professional did it. I used a small brush and covered the entire top and sides of my chimney cap. I filled a few cracks with fireplace mortar cement, and covered it all with this after the mortar dried. Looks great and was easy to apply. Hardest part is getting around the front of the chimney caps without falling off the roof!

There is a reason it costs more!
I live in a very sunny place, that is monsoonal -and the rains are starting- I never use my fireplace - (we are a tropical area) - but I noticed a worsening leak -long and short of it - this really did the trick!!

Easy to Use
This product was very easy to use just follow the directions lightly spray water on crown and using a paint brush put a thin coat on first and then using a pointed trowel put it on thicker, then use your paint brush to smooth it out using a little water in your brush helps smooth it. Another THING IS TO MAKE SURE THE CROWN IS CLEAN and you can also tape your brick or block and flute off to make it look professional. This product gets as hard as rock when cured. It make's your chimney crown water proof and it look's good. There's video on how to use this product on You tube, too.

So Far So Good
The crown of my chimney had several long cracks and was allowing water to run down the bricks into the fireplace. I applied silicone caulk to the cracks after brushing away loose mortar, gave it a few days to set and then applied 2 coats of crown coat per instructions. Thus far, the inner chimney is now dry after several rains and the outer appearance of the chimney is much improved. My skill level is handyman.

The picture listed on the bucket in the ad shows it as grey. This stuff is white. Not aesthetically pleasing in my case.

It's pricey but try replacing a chimney cap instead!
I had a chimney cap that was starting to show minor cracks and didn't want to chance a problem with water damage so applied this product to the cap. It's been on a year now and not only sealed it very well but looks like I just put it on. The are no signs of any type of wear, peeling or flaking what-so-ever! I would highly recommend this product. It's pricey but try replacing a chimney cap instead!
