Loctite 75430/234981 Extend Rust Treatment 1 Quart Bottle

Not all rust converters are equal, in fact some are worse than nothing. I have used Loctite's Extend for several years, like every Locktite product i have used it of high quality and reliable. It is very important you only apply with as thin a layer as possible, a little goes a long way. Brushing works but aerosol or pressurized spray gun is best. DO NOT OVER APPLY, the coat only needs to be a few molecules thick, follow instructions on the jar to prep. It must have enough time to cure and "gas off' before you topcoat; if not allowed to gas off your topcoat will blister and fail - i learned this the hard way and a nice Imeron paint job on a 51 Dodge blistered within a few months. I'm in central California the time to cure might be different in desert locations like Nevada or Utah. Allow to dry for a very long time in hot weather such as apply in May then topcoat in September before rain season begins. If applied too thick it will not adequately cure. If it turns black then its working. Do your metal work first. Seems to be OK with filler/Bondo after curing. I use a good primer over the Extend if it is to be painted or if my only need is to stabilize rust then just use the Extend as a single coat.

I got this treatment product for horizontal rebar railing on my deck. Needed to wait until the metal rusted really good. This treatment, once applied, turns the rusted metal black. I will never have to paint it! So glad my relative suggested using it. Extremely happy with it.

I liked how just a thin coating and a second thin coating converted the rust and prepared the surfaces for painting! Dried quick and cleans easy with soap and water!

Went back to an old favorite. This product does what it says it will. Change rust to a usable, paintable service.

I used this on my car. I sanded the lightly rusted areas, cleaned my car, treated the areas with rubbing alcohol, and then painted this on with a soft brush. My mechanic recommended it, & I am pleased with the results!
