after the yardbirds, john mayhalls bluesbreakers & cream the first super group i loved clapton was involved with was blind faith!!! now a bit over 20 years ago i got the then 30th ann edition of that cd set and some people had problems with the remastering & all but i thought it was well put together, im so so so glad it took me decades to finally get this classic DEREK AND THE DOMINOS deluxe edition into my collection in the cd format becouse when this was deluxed for the 20th & 30th as well as the 40th ann editions there was always complaints AGAIN about the remastering and i can honestly say with this eu 50th ann edition you are not getting any more bonus tracks then you did the last few decades BUT you are getting the best REMASTERED sound of this classic as well as a very loud sound as well, i mean wow!! you can really crank this up to 11 if you wish!!!, this 50th ann edition was not made available here in the us but its still a great price for a brand new eu copy here on amazon, the packaging is great!!!! the bonus disc amazing and i still after over 4 decades cant decide wich supergroup eric was in i prefer better this or BLIND FAITH ??( CREAM WAS A BAND TO ME NOT A SUPERGROUP) i think i have to call it a 50/50 on that one, also its odd i got this today and i have it on LOUD now as i just read that it was 50 years ago TODAY in 1971 that derek and the dominos did that infamous appearance on the JOHNNY CASH SHOW so what a better way to celebrate that then spin this set now, anyway again of all the deluxe releases in the past of this classic super groups one album expanded to a 2 cd set with lavish packaging for today THIS EUROPEAN 50TH ANN RELEASE SOUNDS THE BEST OF THEM ALL!!!!! i promise you that!!!!! check other reviews.........

Yes I know this album has been remastered over the years and anniversaries at least 3 or 4 times, I purchased every version hope against hope. Each of these remasterings didn't and couldn't improve the clarity much at all. Yes, the recording was intended to be raw, basic, and simple. Despite all that it, I was so frustrated and I never could get over how this visceral, scorching music sounded as if someone had draped a huge, thick quilt over all the recording equipment. With this CD version, ( all the fuss about vinyl is a crock) imported from England, I am overjoyed to hear all the instruments, particularly the guitars sound more rarefied and far closer to how I would expect them to be mixed in a live performance. Hearing previously unheard supporting contributions to the performances from the other members of the band enriches the tunes adding to my deep attachment and love for every (well almost every) cut on this album. Clapton's solos here are my favorite over all his recordings.

A strange thing happened when I ripped this CD into iTunes. It says that this is the 2011 40th Anniversary CD of this album, not the 50th Anniversary Edition. The booklet that came with it however says that it was remastered in 2020. It certainly sounds great but so did the 40th Anniversary edition (at least in comparison to previous versions). I hope this is the last time I have to buy a version of this album with a sonic upgrade. I'm going to assume that this version is, in fact, the sonic upgrade that that was promised and remastered in 2020.

This is a decent pressing for anything remastered from the 1970s.Follow these rules for a great listening experience1) Play Loud2) If you have a Crosley player throw it out and get a decent turntable.

I received the 50th edition today and while comparing it to the 40th there are different pics in the 50th edition plus the title of the CD is printed on the front page of the booklet for some reason it doesn’t say anything about the latest remastering at half speed. Just subtle differences between the two on the booklet and the CD case has different pics too. The 50th sounds really good. Satisfied with my purchase.

My husband loved it because we had just seen Derik and the Dominoes on an OLD Johnny Cash show when he introduced them to the US citizens!!!

I had the vinyl of Layla when I was a kid. I played it to death and can tell you exactly where the all scratches are in each song! The album was born from Clapton's romantic obsession with George Harrison's wife, Patti Boyd. She liked the title song dedicated to her, but refused to leave her husband. That began Clapton's dark journey into drug addiction. Duane Allman died soon after the release of the album. Despite its failure to hit a mark with listeners at the time of its release, I always loved it. This 2-CD release offers some great new blues tracks. The hopped-up version of Tell the Truth is a miss.

Původní Laylu mám v originále už od prvního vydání. Na CD mám i několik pirátských kopií. Toto výroční vydání obsahuje původní 2LP + dvě další desky s nepublikovaným materiálem. Zajímavým bonusem a milou perličkou je v tvrdém, papírovém boxu vložená brožura se spoustou textů a fotografií. Pro milovníky Erica Claptona nutný doplněk domácí diskotéky a pro všechny ostatní nezbytná součást vlastní sbírky.

I can't possibly agree with 'Hangonamo's review...I can only put it down to an individual poor pressing..Mine is absolutely spot on with the 'Layla' tracks and I'm not using 'hi end' equipment. 35 year old budget amp, 50 year old Garrard deck (well setup with a carbon cartridge} but 'VG' Warfedale column speakers. Excellent separation great bass right down into vibe zone...No muddiness what so ever not even with the two 'support discs' mostly previously unreleased track record during Layla sessions. Which incidently are not Half Speed but are on 180grm vinyl. As with all Remasters indivdual engineers tastes do come to the fore and maybe the "Half Speed discs" are a little bit 'bright' but the seperation is brilliant and you can alway 'cut' a little bit of treble with out sacrificing any individual quality across the range
