After The Gold Rush (50th Anniversary)

Tell Me Why Neil ?
Celebrating 50 years since the release of this seminal album not only for Neil but for music fans. There's no point in describing how good this still sounds it is a remarkable record. But the purpose of this release is hard to fathom with only two bonus tracks, 'Wonderin' is a new song plus an outtake version. No extra notes just the original lyric sheet from the original release. Fans have just shelled out £200 + for Archives 2 which once again duplicated many earlier releases, so this is an odd release but essential.

Hardly a fitting tribute
Intended to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a classic album this is disappointing and over-priced. For a start it's not a new master, or even to original one. It's the 2009 master from the original archives re-issue series. They've done a nice job with the sleeve but the vinyl is a let down. Okay, it's a reasonable pressing but at this price you'd expect 180gm vinyl but, despite the manufacturer's advertising blurb it isn't. Stick to the standard pressing.

Great Quality Album and perfect pressing
Relatively expensive for a single album but beautifully presented and dead flat record without any clicks or pops. I’m fact nearly every Neil Young album I buy has such good sound quality and pressing is outstanding. Wish all records were of this standard..

A RIP-OFF
I have given this album four stars on account of it being excellent. However, if you have the original, or even a remastered original from a few years ago, there is absolutely no reason to buy this. It is a marketing rip-off, and the extra song isn’t worth the effort, or the money, of buying the album again.
