Works as advertised.
This stuff works. I've used it in 3 cars. Smell is fresh like the outdoors. Slight lemon smell too. A little awkward to use so watch your finger as you spray. It doesn't stain as far as I can tell. DON"T spray the whole can in your car that will be too much smell. Maybe 1/3 can at a time. Leave your car overnight so it can work I would even suggest putting the car in the sun to help it work better.

Totally Renewed a Smoked in Car - Follow this step by step for the best results
Ok, if you read the reviews they are mostly 5 star or 1 star with complaints. It's all in the method, and this stuff works miracles. Read on! Follow these steps for a car deodorize. The car in question was HEAVILY SMOKED IN FOR 10 YEARS. 1. Vaccum out car top to bottom 2. Wipe all surfaces with a good cleaner/degreaser - Purple Power (recommneded) or Simple Green 3. Use a Rug Doctor with upholstery cleaner on all fabric surfaces (seats, carpets, wells, under seats etc. using the standard cleaning solution for upholstery. DO NOT DO THE HEAD LINER. The machine and solution may separate the headliner from the backing foam. 4. Use a damp rag with 50/50 water and degreaser on headliner with a GENTLE rubbing (not scrubbing) action. Do not get the headliner overly wet - this is more of a "Wipe Down" 5. remove the vehicle's cabin air filter 6. turn airconditioner to MAX and MAX fan on the RECIRCULATE air function with the car running 7. open all vents inside the vehicle 8. place the odor bomb central in the car on a towel and set it off 9. close all doors and let the bomb circulate for 20 minutes - you should see the mist being sucked into the AC vents and blown out 10. Turn off the car and let sit with doors closed for 24 hours - do not attempt to use the car 11. open the car and use a damp rag with cleaner/degreaser on all hard surfaces to remove residue (note the smell will be a pungent minty/root beer smell - THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT to remove the Odor Bomb's residue from any surfaces 12. wipe down seats and headliner with damp rag (do not wet the headliner, just wipe off) 13. leave windows open for 24 more hours to "air out" the car 14. Odor Mint/Rootbeer smell will dissipate over 3-5 days. If you can, leave the windows open overnight to accelerate the process 15 after a week the car will have a neutral smell. and be "as new" If you dont follow these steps, you will either have a stinky (smoke) smell, or be stuck with the "cheap motel" smell reported in the one-star reviews on amazon. I have used this on a car with smoke and another with spilled milk smell and restored to imperceptible smell and "as new". This is a GREAT product when used correctly. If you are going to be lazy with the process you wont be happy.

Was about 85% effective
Used this to remove air freshener smell from a used car. After wiping all the plastic with degreaser and steam the carpet - set this off in the car. Windows closed 8 hours , ran the ac for 1 minute during fog (car has remote start). It was about 85% effective. The air freshener scent was still detectable but not as strong. The natural air scent was pleasant.

Does not work miracles
I bought several of these (15) to deodorize a refrigerator/freezer combo. The first three were from an auto parts store and all they had was "tropical island fruit punch". If you shake a can of cherry soda and spray it all over that is essentially what you get. So while these are "clear" and neutral odor, I doubt you want them spraying on the headliner or upholstery of your car. I will still have to wipe everything down after 9 bombs have been used. The rotten food smell is not gone at all and after the numerous bleach baths, 15 lbs of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and newspaper to absorb the odor I used the bombs. Fridge went out the day I left apparently for 2 weeks and nothing will take this horrible smell away. I can't blame the bombs as others say they are okay but no one mentions the residue, which is a little sticky. I don't think I would recommend them for a car because of that. In this case the fridge is trash. I'd try them if you get to the fridge much sooner. I'm giving them 3 stars overall because I don't want to trash the product that cannot perform a miracle. Maybe it works under less drastic conditions.

Destroyed my car ceiling.
I bought this Odor Bomb for my used car that had some bad smell from previous owners and detailing didn’t helped with the smell. So I put canister on the arm rest as per instructions and left for 2hr. My car cloth seats are covered with oily substance and the worst thing happened to my car ceiling. It’s soaking vet, left huge stain that I was able to get rid of because I acted immediately. But now ceiling is heavy soaked with Odor Bomb scent that I can’t get rid off! And smell is not pleasant, it’s disgustingly sweet. I tried to clean ceiling with soapy water, then with white vinegar, but it doesn’t help. I left car with open windows but it’s not airing out! It’s to much for the car. So if you are considering to use this Odor Bomb, please be careful. Try smell before using it in your car, make sure you like it. But consider that you may destroy interior of your car.
