This is the third PetSafe Martingale Collar I've purchased. I originally bought one that was 3/4" wide, and it was great quality. But I decided the 1" wide collar was a better fit/look for my dog. Then I decided to buy a fancy ID tag for my dog, and it couldn't be fit on your standard martingale collar. So I began searching for a "regular" clip collar and happened to luck out when I saw this one. This is definitely my favorite so far, as it can easily be unclipped and removed when needed (and to fit my dog's new ID tag), but it still functions as a martingale. I prefer these type collars for my dog because they can be worn rather loosely, and I'm not constantly wondering if I should tighten it or if it's too tight. Color is great, it's super strong, and the clip is tough.

This martingale collar is perfect. I ordered a large for my 60 lb pit bull, and she loves it. I could have gone with a medium so it would look a little more snug, but the large stays on her neck just fine. I love that this collar has the easy release buckle; this feature makes me feel at ease because I don't have to worry about it getting stuck on her. I would recommend this collar to anyone who likes the martingale style collar. The fabric is thick and sturdy as well, definitely worth the price.

First, let me say that I LOVE the Petsafe martingale collar and highly recommend the product. My 5-year old Lab has been wearing the same one for the last several years. Despite daily use, it has minimal wear. So, when it came time to get another collar for our 1 ½ year old Labrador/ Weimaraner who’s ready to transition from the gentle leader to a martingale collar for walks, I came back to purchase another martingale collar. At the time I purchased the other collar, I heeded the reviewers who said the collar ran large. So for our 60lb. Lab I bought a medium and it’s been a perfect fit. Our Labmaraner is quickly gaining on 75lbs and stands a good inch taller than our other Lab. So I measured her neck and opted to follow Petsafe’s sizing recommendation (hoping they’d updated it in the last 3 years) and bought the large. By all standards- neck size (18 in) and breed size it should fit. WRONG!! I have it on the smallest setting and it can still be slipped over her head. The picture compares the sizing of her current large collar (teal) sized to fit her neck to the Petsafe martingale collar (purple) set at its smallest setting. I’m opting to keep the collar in hopes that when she finally fills out in a year or two it will eventually be usable.

Bought collar over a year ago, it still looks like new. Works great for teaching a dog that isn’t steady to heel yet. Ordering one for our new puppy too!

I like that it is sturdy , purple, because my dog likes the color and it is very soft and gentle to break her from her younger Sensation harness. It is usable in my vehicle with the clips I already have from her original Kurgo one . She is learning how to lift her head erect and my the 4th day out walking is already accustomed to being guided with it. It has a place for her rabies tag, and has a soft loop to grab to stop her from behaviors that are not steady for her. She loves it and she is getting use to it as she is able daily. This way her muscles around her withers and her neck and shoulders ( top of her front legs ) are able to grow stronger and more muscled as the spring and summer season continues. She is barely 4 1/2 and she is possibly growing more into her feet. She came from a Tibetan Anatolian rescue group and also is part Stafford-shire bull terrier and retriever ...She's a beauty and adorably sweet.. This way she doesn't distract when we are walking to her nose... Next step in her training by me!! Yippee!

This is a great collar at a great value. I have ordered several over the years for my dogs and my parent's dog. We prefer the martingale style of collar over all other collar styles and have not had a bad experience with them yet.

I live in a city and my golden lab has had bad periods of noise phobias. Any time a loud truck or motorcycle would pass or there was a loud noise of any sort, she would try to pull away and run back to the apartment door, even if that meant running across the street...so I need a collar I knew would keep her safe and wouldn't be painful as it got tighter. This collar worked great! She did still pull and choke herself a bit at times, but most importantly, it prevented her from escaping and running across the street. The one thing I would want to see is the ability to adjust the collar. When it's not being pulled to tighten as a martingale is designed to do, it is very loose and she can easily slip her head out if someone is just holding the collar on the area that doesn't tighten when pulling away. I don't know if that feature is possible with a martingale, but it would be so much more useful

The size descriptions are deceiving and the loop (the main feature) is designed too long to make sense. We have a boxer with a pretty big neck, 18". So we chose the Large size (13"-20"), thinking that this refers to the adjustment range of the collar. However, it turns out that the shortest you can make it with the loop being "relaxed" is 20". When the loop tightens by pulling on the leash, the overall length can go down to 13". In other words, with a 18" neck, the collar hangs pretty loose even on the shortest setting, basically just held in place by the ears. When you pull on the leash (or the dog gets hung up!) it'll tighten just like a slip leash. Nothing "safer" or more comfortable about this one.

As many others have pointed out, the collar is much too large if you go by the size chart. I had to exchange the Large for a Medium to fit my lab retriever. Otherwise, the collar appears sturdy and well made, although I doubt the plastic tab for ID tags will last long.

we bought the large as it said 13"-20" neck, our dog is 16" and even at it's smallest size it is too big. it fits our 20" dogs neck with over an inch to spare!

The collar is well made and great colour, but I can only use this with a leash attached. I have to use another collar to leave on her with her tags. The "martingale" loop is so big that it easily gets caught on branches etc., making it dangerous to leave on her when she is out in the yard or anywhere off leash. I won't even have this on her in the car. I have another, similar collar that has a much smaller, flatter loop that is safe. I would not recommend this one.

My dog is leash reactive and lunges, this collar is holding up against the pulling! Nice purple colour too

I ordered a medium but it is WAY too small. It’s only 5” max. Not sure if the product is mislabelled or the sizing is way off. I ordered a medium from a different seller and it’s perfect. Don’t order from here!
