The Archaeology Book (Wonders of Creation)
J**.
have been enjoying this book about uncovering mysteries of the past
there are really great photos and relevant studies from around the ancient world. very broad view of what still fascinates researchers and scientists.

A great study guide
Our Bible study guide wanted a short study related to Christianity to fill the end of the year. While not deep for adults, it had the tie-in and inspiration we needed, taking several chapters for each weekly session.

Good Resource
I recommend this book for any child interested in archaeology. Great to have on the shelf and let them pursue it on their own.

The Archeology Book
This book is great! Makes learning fun and easy with levels of study by color coding facts on the page...do I want all our material to be like this? Of course not, but it was a fun change, and made it easy to use for teaching my kids of different ages together. (For homeschoolers-we used it with MFW & HOD curriculums). We are not done yet, so I say 4 stars.

I can only remember this kind of material if I ...
I can only remember this kind of material if I have charts of time periods, maps to show where that country is located. modern names for ancient cities. This book is a high school text book and I guess that's what I needed to understand the books I already have.

This book is packed full of knowledge and great photography. It is very educational. The book is written in a way that really draws the reader's interest and points out a lot of interesting historical connections. Since reading this, we have purchased the whole Wonders of Creation series.

I like it but...
First, let me say that I own all the books in the Wonders of Creation Series. I think they are great. That said, this book isn't that great. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I found it disappointingly, well, shallow. I don't like the format change at all, and why did they stop putting the pull out poster in the back? Those are great. Perhaps it is because I have been an amatuer archaeologist since I've been about 10, but this book didn't really cover any new ground for me. I would recommend the book, Unwrapping the Pharohs, also by David Down, for a much better take on the subject. I suppose if you just want to introduce the subject to youngsters who have never heard of archaeology--and I am talking about young elementary school students--it would suffice as a primer.
