Clear Blue Transparent - Nintendo DS Lite Complete Full Housing Shell Case Replacement Repair w/ Hinge Set

I ordered this to replace the old white case on my son's DS Lite which had a broken right hinge. It took me about an hour and a half to remove the old case and install this one. There are lots of small screws of varying lengths and fragile wires and tedious steps. Pay attention to the recommendation in the online instructions (link included with the kit) to pre-thread the plastic holes. I would happily pay a bit more to have them come pre-threaded because it is kind of a pain to remember them all before it's too late. It can be difficult to reattach the ribbon cables and I finally used a pair of needle nose pliers to force one of them back in since it didn't work the first time I put it together (this has nothing to do with the case itself, but you have to take them apart to replace the case). I would do it over again and I'm sure it would go much more quickly - thinking about ordering another one for one of my other kid's DS's, although that case isn't quite demolished yet. My son is very happy with the new case, which includes a matching stylus. There are about 40 different color/design cases available from this vendor - we got the translucent blue version.

I bought this because my DS had a broken screen, and I figured why not replace the whole case while I am at it. The build was somewhat easy, but it is not for the feint of heart.. or those with clumsy fingers. It is easy to rip a ribbon (I actually did this.. not too proud of myself ) because the top screen has a ribbon that has to be wrapped around and pushed into the hinge. In the end, I had to replace my DS. It wasn't really this products fault, but rather the replacement screen I ordered was poor quality.The case looks pretty enough, but when you close it, you don't get that same satisfying "quality" feel. The transparent blue does look amazing though, I must say.As for whether or not to buy this product, I would recommend it only if your DS is already broken (but functioning), and use it as a last ditch effort to try and salvage the innards.

This product was purchased because the right hinge on my DS Lite broke. Actually transferring the contents took a long time, but this product lasted about 2 years before... the right hinge broke. I suspect this is more my fault than the product's fault. The original case also broke after roughly the same length of time.If you have the technical skill to replace the parts (There's tutorials but actually doing it is fairly complex), this is a 14 dollar solution for a potentially 60-70 dollar problem. The case itself will merit attention too, so there's that.

I purchased this case to give my DS Lite a little more flair than the stock plain black housing. It was missing one of the longer screws that are supposed to replace the long tri-wing screws that came on the DS, but that wasn't really a big deal for me. In the given instructions they suggest using the screws that come on the DS Lite rather than the spares that come with the kit and I can't emphasize this enough; the spares are very prone to having their heads shear off. I'd also take it a step further and suggest you still use the tri-wings as well (they suggest using the spares instead of the tri-wings). One of the longer one's sheared on me and I had to take it apart and use pliers to slowly turn the screw back out again.Everything else has worked fine, though. The stylus is a little cheap, but it works.

We hesitated to buy but happy we did. It worked & my son, very much the engineering type, age 12 at the time, did everything. He enjoyed it so much he took apart & put back together several times just for the fun of it. It was a last ditch effort as the Nintendo was useless without, so we had nothing to lose. I think it is a good product if you are mechanically inclined, perhaps a huge headache if not.

This product is very nice, arriving in a secure box, with all small parts in miniature baggies. The quality seems very good, and the screws all fit very well. I have another DS Lite that I will be working on soon, and I plan to order from this company again in the future!Product came faster than Amazon's estimated arrival date.

First let me say I work in IT, so I'm familiar with working with circuit boards and electronics. That said while trying to install this I managed to fry the bottom circuit board and had to pay $60 to get that replaced.After it was all working howeer this is a very nice shell and my son loves it.

This is a cool looking case! Note to anyone that this is a hard thing to install. Although I only bought this to fix the hinge joint, the screen cover that they sent was completely garbage. There was a scratch that was deep and through the whole thing. The buttons don't press very well in the new DS. Overall, it was alright for it's price. Would appreciate a better screen
