Colm, mid-40s, has a comfortable life: a managerial job at Dublin s docks, two teenage children, and a kind, loyal wife in Claire. After the death of his father, a destructive figure, Colm s emotional life cracks open, and his downward spiral continues when he is dismissed from his job. Drinking heavily and unable to confide in Claire, Colm finds himself drawn to Jay, a 19-year-old who dabbles in prostitution. Their sexual encounters and tentative friendship become Colm s only solace but this recklessness puts his family life at risk. DVD SPECIAL FEATURES include the exclusive Q&A with director Peter Mackie Burns from 2020 s OUTShine film festival.

Great character study! Great story! Great acting!
Deeply moving story about two men, one 19 the other 46, who come together to share their family difficulties. They are both lost in their individual worlds finding comfort in sharing their feelings with each other. Fine character studies! The two men are brilliantly played. I could feel the despair of the older man and understand the parenting difficulties of the younger man. The standout performance is the wife. Although her part is small, she is ever present as the story unfolds. Her frustration is deeply felt. The son is good too, refusing to let his father connect with him.The bonus statement by the director Peter Makie Burns is most enjoyable and informative. He reveals the raison d’être of the film and reveals many facts about how he approached the story and inspired the actors..The film is worth viewing and probably more than once.

BEAUTIFUL but SAD
Closeted married man falls for young hustler. Deep disillusionment and loneliness of both forms a bond. Excellent picture, sound quality, story, and acting. Soundtrack was a little dischordant, but was subdued. Heavy Irish brogue dialogue hard to understand at times. Normally, I would deduct a star for lack of nudity in a film like this, but this was on such a deep emotional level, it wasn't needed to make the characters real for me.

Frustrating!
The movie has a powerful story, good acting, memorable. But I swear I couldn't understand half the dialogue at least! I've been to Ireland many times but this was really frustrating, and I had the volume as high as it would go so I could get what they were saying! Shite!

A travesty for Gay cinema.
Depressing, characters not real. Irresposible acts.

Understanding Irish brogue
I watched this three times to begin understanding the dialog, subtitles would be most appreciated.

Film abbastanza problematico. Lorenz
