These Brand New Readers are fantastic. I buy them for my 4 year old son and he's "reading" them every night as practice. They are short with just one line of print on each page with a picture to match so it has all the supports a young, emerging reader would need. For the price, they are totally worth it for a set of 4 short readers. We have about 8 sets so far and I will definitely keep adding to our collection.

another hit
we have a bunch of the brand new readers series... this is one of the favorites (along with mouse, winnie, worm...)the stories are so short (just the right length for NEW readers) but always entertaining. how do they do that?? I know, they aren't going to win any literary awards for story content, but I love that the stories don't have to be boring just because the kids are new readers.anyway, my 3 yo loves reading about tabby cat and his silliness. he especially likes the one where tabby cat swats all the veggies around and then gets a scolding. just typical cat mischief.

Can't beat these first readers!
Our two year old granddaughter loves these first readers. When her big brother comes home from school she always asks him to sit down and listen to her 'read'. What I especially love about these books is the humor. Our grandchildren always grin as they anticipate the punch line on the last page. Tabby the cat is one of their favorite series.

My 5-year old granddaughter was totally intrigued by the pictures. After reading the book to her, she immediately asked for tracing paper, and traced at least 2 pictures of Tabby Cat, one of which I've now proudly hung in my office!

Great series of books to help your child read!
We love all of the Brand New Readers! They are easy for new readers and help build their reading confidence. Would HIGHLY recommend this whole series!

Engaging for a first grader

Excellent for emerging readers.
Very sweet group of mini books for new readers. Each book has a funny last page. Very simple language and repetitive. Excellent for first half year of reading. My daughter loves them :) The ONLY con I can think of is that they are somewhat flimsy - the paper is quite thin, but my daughter is gentle with them. My daughter had more fun with the purple set, that has different animals, even though cats are her favourite animal.
