Absolute classic

Classic 80s film - loved it then and it still stands up - the effects are "of the day" but don't detract from the film and I had forgotten how many great quotable lines it had. £3.99 - not a dollar, but well worth it.

Simply the greatest film of all time! It’s satirical genius will never end, it’s fire will be a triumph for all time; the special affects are beautiful and the story is scarily becoming more and and more real every day.Bless you Paul Verhoven

Proper classic 80's violent movie. If your reading the reviews then you really don't know robocop.

The Blu Ray version of this classic movie is a bit of a mixed bag. The opening low def TV news channel sequences don't really set a good mark for a blu ray and in truth i was worried that this film would be in the "awful transfer section" of the blu ray bargain bin.Im happy to say its not all doom and gloom. The majority of the movie is vibrant and looks good on blu ray and the HD multi channel sound was good.Back on the flip side Some scenes appear a little grainy and the "what robocop sees" scenes are shown from behind a the multi line 1987 impression of what his display would be like, along with the news/advert scenes "poor quality broadcasts" which are in stark contrast to much of the rest of the movie.I feel the blu ray makes these difference in picture quality far more extreme than previous media types, although far from perfect it is the best version around at this time. If the usual cash in on Anniversaries kicks in this movies next land mark date won't be till 2012 should they decide to remaster it for a 25 year role out.Film scores 5/5In comparrison to recently made blu ray releasesPicture quality 3/5Sound Quality 4/5Im sure some folks will disagree with me but having watched the trilogy DVD release in both standard and upscaled for comparison on the scenes i felt where weak in the blu-ray and the blu ray wins the day for me.

Love this movie! Reminds me of my childhood

This review is for the 2020 unrated release Blu-ray. Film and audio quality is very good especially for a film made in 1987. Some nasty gore that was cut out of the theatrical release is reinserted into the film. Nice special features including Q&A with crew and audience. Making of the film, making of the RoboCop character, special effects feature, etc. Interesting concept of fusing man with machine aka a cyborg. The powers that be are already working on and are capable of producing such a product now behind the curtain that at the time of this film was radically advanced. Excellent film I recommend.

This is (in my opinion) Paul Verhoeven's masterpiece. Incredible set design, special effects, and make-up (shout-out Stan Winston, the special effects master). Great characters that are acted well. Peter Weller, who spends most of the movie as just a set of lips with the rest of him covered, still gives a great physical performance and makes you feel for Murphy. Excellent themes about 'rediscovering your humanity' and 'the dangers of technology'. Clarence Boddicker is one of the best 'pure evil' villains of cinema history, a cruel slime-ball you just love to hate. Also, the musical score is underrated. Overall, huge recommend! I'd definitely buy that for a dollar!
