Kotobuki"Success Daruma Collectible Figurine, Small, Red

This is a 2 1/2 inch tall Daruma. It's about the size of a golf ball. If you want bigger, this isn't the one. But this Daruma fits on the base of my monitor so I can look at it as I work.Daruma dolls are used in Japan to signify a goal in progress or achieved. You paint in the right eye (your left) or any eye (there is some debate if it matters) and then when your goal is achieved, you paint in the other eye. Various color Darumas are for types of goals, health, wealth, study, success, luck. I just use the regular red "lucky" Daruma because red is the original color of good fortune.

It was a little smaller than I'd hoped but it was a gift and was received well and liked .

Simple, and interesting history on these little heads. And they were authentic seeming, made of a paper mache type of thing.

I am happy with my doll and the instructions that came with it. There were comments on the size. When I measured the doll it is about 2 inches tall x 2 inches wide (see pics). I am fine with this but had read other postings that the doll was larger.

Way smaller than I thought it would be. About the size of a golf ball. Other than that, it was ok.

I love to have him sit on my desk to remind me to study.I think you’re supposed to use a special kind of paint brush to fill in his eyes? But a sharpie worked fine for me.

Bought for a family member that is interested in collecting dolls and figurines from around the world. Was an excellent Christmas gift that they did not expect at all.
