Charles Tilly bersama Sidney Tarrow berhasil mengupas dan memetakan bentuk-bentuk dan repertoar terjadinya “konflik pertikaian” di belahan dunia sebagai bagian dari proses interaksi sosial di dalam membaca dan mengevaluasi atas kebijakan negara (pemerintah) melalui berbagai repertoar, mobilisasi dan de-mobilisasi dalam 2 (dua) aspek; hak politik (political rights) dan kebebasan sipil (civil liberties). Namun bentuk-bentuk repertoar tersebut bersifat tidak ajeg atau hanya dalam bentuk aksi nirkekerasan semata, tetapi kadang mengalami eskalasi dalam bentuk kekerasan, sweeping, dan sebagainya, seperti gerakan demonstrasi, aksi pemogokan, huru hara, terorisme, pembangkangan sipil, perang saudara, bahkan revolusi atau pemberontakan. Oleh karena itu, kehadiran buku ini penting untuk meneropong insiden konflik keagamaan di Indonesia, sehingga bisa digunakan oleh para pengkaji konflik keagamaan di Indonesia. Selain itu, juga penting bagi para pengambil kebijakan (stakeholders) dalam kerangka melakukan intervensi terhadap penyelesaian konflik tersebut.Charles Tilly along with Sidney Tarrow managed to pare and chart forms and repertoire of the "conflict infighting" in parts of the world as part of the process of social interaction in reading and evaluating the discretion of the state (government) through a variety of repertoire, mobilization and de-mobilization within 2 (two) aspects; political rights (political rights) and civil liberties (civil liberties). However, other forms of repertoire that is not steady or only in the form of the action of non-violence alone, but sometimes escalate into violence, sweeping, and so, like the movement of demonstrations, strikes, riots, terrorism, civil disobedience, civil war, even revolution or uprising. Therefore, the presence of the book is important to observe the incidence of religious conflicts in Indonesia, so it can be used by students of religious conflict in Indonesia. In addition, it is also important for policy makers (stakeholders) within the framework of intervention in the settlement of the conflict.
