Fermentis SafAle US-05 Dry Brewing Yeast – 500 g (1.1 lb) Package – American Ale Yeast – Sold by North Mountain Supply

I've been buying bulk yeast from the same sellers for years. I always get it fast, and the yeast is fresh. I wouldn't buy from anyone else! I've never had any fail to start fermenting. 500g fits perfectly into a quart mason jar, and I use a food saver to vacuum seal the jar. 500g lasts me about 6 months and it's just as good on the last batch as it was the first!

Ive ordered lots of these over the years and they always come sealed and still vacuumed haven’t had any problems with shipping and if you don’t have to pay delivery this is the cheaper option I’ve found for the 500g packages

I usually order these bricks from my distributor, but was outted. This availability through Amazon saved the day. Product great as always.

We use this yeast weekly at our brewery, great product but ran short one needed one in a pinch, ordered from Amazon and upon getting the package yeast was everywhere. If you brew you know that yeast package needs to be sealed or it’s no good. Amazon’s return policy won’t let you return yeast so be weary ordering. This review is about Amazon’s yeast policy, not the product itself.

I have used SafAle US-05 for years. I buy the 500g package and store it in the refrigerator in a vacuum sealed container. I have never had a problem with fermentation. Great for all American ales in my opinion.

five 10-gallon batches in, last one stalled at 70% attenuation and the one I just pitched in yesterday is very slow / sluggish to start (I pitched 25 g for 10 gallons). Two 11g satchels from my LHBS have no problems and are usually chewing away and steady bubbling by now (same 10gal) – yesterday’s brew isn’t even bubbling (Tilt does show it’s at 12% attenuation though). Date of 'birth' on the brick I got was over 1 year old when received; same with a brick of 34/70 I also purchased at the same time – who knows how these were stored during that time. Bummer, I brew a lot and figured this would be a way to save some $$. To be fair, I live in Vegas and ordered these in Sept when it was still hot out so maybe the delivery had something to do with it (?). However, being a year old when received didn’t make me very happy (along with the sluggish results). Also, how is Amazon storing these in their warehouse? On a shelf out in the open or are these actually kept at just above freezing?

The product arrived very quickly, vendor at their expense expedite shipping. This is a sold all-round beer yeast that offers consistency, great flavor profile, and good fermentation every time. Plan on brewing twice a month and this will bring down my brewing costs down significantly.
