Tipe operates using a novel take on the bolt action style of pens by employing two helical grooves precisely machined into the pen clip, instead of a linear groove like other bolt action pens. This unique function gives Tipe a sharp, modern look, as well as added durability and improved functionality.

A titanium pen that stands tall on quality and design
These are a good titanium pen, arguably the best titanium pen at its price level, but they will sell.Alright, so some of the comments mentioned are correct. The pen is a little rough be in its deployment, but it feel like a handmade piece, a solid, nice piece. The pieces all fit together perfect, except the cap is loose. It's balanced and nice to the touch. The design is simple which make it fantastic. The Tipe writes well, can use most standard refills, like the Fisher or Parker refill; it comes with a pilot. Because of this, it also includes separate spacers in the barrel to accommodate certain refill cartridges. The only pen at this range is the Retro 51Titanium pen, which is really a class all by itself. Against the rest of the titanium pen market, this one stands on a solid design, build and a receptive maker worth keeping an eye on.

For the price it should have been better made
I bought this as a gift but hesitated to give it after I opened it and examined it. I liked the finish and the weight of the pen. It felt good in the hand. Unfortunately the retraction mechanism wasn't smooth and had a sort of grinding feel to it, while the top part with the clip that rotates to retract the pen point wasn't tightly seated and seemed a little bit loose. In the end I did give it, and the recipient was happy, but I probably wouldn't buy this pen again.

... when I found them on Amazon because I really liked how sleek they looked
I bought several of these when I found them on Amazon because I really liked how sleek they looked, the helical action and that they are titanium pens.Feels well in the hand and although they do have minor issues not to the exaggerated extent of the other feedback. Yes it feels gritty when you start opening and closing, but anyone that knows anything about titanium, this is normal. After a bit of wear it becomes easier to open and close. Also when I open I use a little downward pressure so the screws don't end up grinding against the helical grooves. After backing this on Kickstarter, I've bought more because I simply really liked this pen. Black finish is excellent to the touch and in looks and the natural finish is nice too. Not perfect but pretty damn close.
