Is the blade silver or black? The picture shows silver, but some reviews say they got black

Black this is garbage. It does not hold an edge for ten minutes. Spend a little bit more and get a car better product.

What material is the sheath made of? I need to paint it black so I want to know what it is.

Paper thin canvas. Don't buy this piece of garbage. Get the Ontario Knife version for another $10, and you will be amazed at the difference. The Coleman machete feels like a child's toy by comparison (I own both).

how long is the blade?

I am not sure but I believe it is 16"-18". I would not exactly classify it as a blade. Perhaps it is a chunk of dull steel. It does not hold an edge for even two or three minutes. I was not able to cut anything with it. I bought another machete and use the scabbard that come with this one for the real machete that I bought. Do yourself a favor and don't spend the money.

what color is the blade is it sliver or black?

Mine was black. It was an inexpensive item and the blade holds an edge just about like you would expect for an item of this price.
