Good quality but heavy
Solid pad. It’s nice and big and folds over roots and rocks well. It is very heavy and not great for long approaches.

Amazing pound for pound (or gram for gram if you're metric)
I bought this a while back and now that I've used it for about a year I have reached a final verdict. Its a beast!Start off with the cons:weight 20lbs, it is heavy but if you are used to backpacking it will be very easy. I would suggest this to intermediate to advanced climbers just due to the strength and endurance you'll have at that level. Now for the pros:Protection: it is wonderful. It confirms to the ground very well. This is due to the fact that they have a vertical tube a layout for the foam. The chest straps are also protected with a rollout tarp that Velcro to the pad itself.Space: there is a secret pocket on it for snacks. I always forget about them but when I'm really hungry I remember it. You can also stuff gear bags into it as well, this will add to the weight though which should be expected. They also have 2 gear loops running vertically on the backside and on the chest straps as well.Support: the chest straps are similar to most backpacking packs or day packs. They have a horizontal chest strap and hip straps as well. Great for support. Do adjust everything though. My friend put it on with it for to my body and she was complaining the entire time.I absolutely love this pad. If you are looking for something a bit lighter though look elsewhere. Great for trips with a short approach, or with a friend that has ungodly endurance.

simply fantastic
This was my first pad and I love it. My friends who have been bouldering for a few years also say it's the best pad they've used. It bends around rocks and uneven terrain making the landing very safe. It's fairly soft and would make a decent sleeping pad. It also can carry everything you need for the day. I have put two pairs of shoes, a 60ft static rope, a 60m rope, harness, chalk, some food, a 3liter bottle of water, and sunscreen and still had some space left. Granted it made the pad heavy, but the straps are very nice, and the waist belt helps a lot.On the note, it is a bit heavy to begin with, although my friends say it's about average for its size. The material seems really durable, I've hard to plow my way through some overgrown sections of woods with branches getting snagged left and right and there have been no signs of rips or any damage to the outer material. Definitely will be my go to pad and would highly recommend to friends. As for the potential issue of rolling an ankle on the baffles... It is not a concern for me after using it. It feels soft enough that you will just compress the baffle enough that it wont be an issue. But I could be wrong about that.

Great first crash pad!!
I haven't had the chance to acctualy get out and try the pad out yet but I'm very happy with the purchase. It seems to be a very durable pad. I should say this is my first and the reason I chose this pad was because you're going to need a pad that can conform to your landing zone. This will do the job and will protect your body from the rocks. I'm loving the color of it as well. This thing is super easy to roll up and get it on your back to hit the boulders. the straps are awesome and you can pack a ton of gear in here without feeling like your carrying a brick. The ribbed sections are interesting and you could potentially roll an ankle if it landed wrong but with any pad you have that risk. It's a bit hard out of the box but just take the time to jump on it. It's going to take a beating so you might as well test it out right? All in all I love this pad and the price is right on! Wish amazon price matched but oh well they have great service!

Great all around crash and sleeping pad
This is a great all around crash pad! As everyone else says, it is heavier, but it's definitely worth the extra weight. It provides a very soft landing, even from higher falls. I had a friend who landed from 12 feet up (foot height) and never felt the ground! I've personally landed on it from 8 feet up (also foot height), and was surprised at how soft the landing was. The straps are for the most part comfortable, and the storage in it is vast and great to have. The only problem I had with it, was that one of the threads broke at the edge of one of the baffles the second time using it but hasn't unthreaded. Aside from that, the durability and quality is very good. It also makes for a comfortable sleeping pad at night! If you're looking at any pads around $150, save the extra few bucks and go with the R3! You won't regret it.

So far, so good. I teach parkour and needed something portable that could be used for target landings and to train falls, rolls, etc. I have already gotten a LOT of use out of this, finding ways to safely block off concrete corners or on unsure landings for beginners. It's impressive how much shock is dissipated upon landing from moderate heights and above. I haven't pushed the limits of this pad yet but if all goes well, I'll be eventually purchasing a few more to create wider landing areas for more advanced training. My only critique is that the packaging was only shrink-wrapped plastic around the pad, so the plastic was broken through in a number of places. Fortunately, the pad itself was unscathed during transport, but I would have appreciated some sort of more durable outer shell around the canvas, even if it was only some sort of bubble wrap.

Stitching is coming undone
Wife and I bought this to start bouldering a bit. Mostly in joshua tree, we’ve had it a while but only used it on 4-5 trips so far, it’s bulky but I don’t mind the size, it molds to the ground nicely. The one big con we are having with it is that the stitching is coming undone and it keep leaking the foam. A real pain in the ass when try to leave no trace. Wife has stitched up 2 separate holes the developed. Not sure what’s up, otherwise it’s seems like a good pad.Added a pic, you can see a new hole forming and an old hole my wife is stitching.

Must have crash pad
You'll rarely find ground that's even next to some sweet routes. That's where this guy comes along. It'll contour around rocks, roots or whatever, but it'll still provide a soft yet firm fall. While on the heavy side of pads it's versatility makes up for it. The straps when done right doesn't make it as heavy. Plus you can store stuff between the padding. All my friends now own one
