Works great on older radios without the frequency counter jack!

This frequency counter works great on older CB's and Ham radios that do not have a frequency counter jack on the radio. To get the frequency, the transmitter has to be activated. At that point it will show frequency.I have found a couple of ways to use the counter that work well. One is to run a jumper directly into the counter from your transmitter and run the output from the counter to your antenna. That is probably the best way to use the counter.Another way that works for me is to mount a small magnet mount antenna in the radio room and hook that antenna to the input to the counter. Run your radio to an antenna switch and mount a dummy load on antenna #2. Dead key the dummy load and the counter will pick up the frequency through the air. I tried using a small telescoping antenna on the counter in this fashion, but it would not display the frequency. Maybe my transmitter is too weak to use it that way.

Good alternative to the DG-5 for my Kenwood 520S

Works great! Added this to my setup with a Kenwood TS-520S. The 520 does not have a digital frequency display. It does not give continuous display while turning the knob like the Kenwood DG-5, but I use it to check where I am. Basically tune using the mechanical dial, then do a frequency check to be sure. All I need to do is turn the switch to "tune" (low power AM setting for tuning the output section) and flip to transmit for a second. Frequency displays and I know where I am. Should do well with any of the older tube setups. It needs an AM signal to read correctly SSB will not work, so the CW or maybe "tune" setting is your best bet

So that's what frequency I'm on???

Very simple in-line hook up for my old Cobra-135 CB. I send a 1000 cycle tone on SSB and it's right on the mark. I only gave it 4 Stars since the digital display was installed off center, but it's tolerable.

Just what I needed.

Works great. Using it for my TS-520S. Received it fast and in perfect condition. I like the look of it too.
