Same mount as previous revisions
I love how Planet Bike uses the same mount as older models. I have two different-model lights (the Blaze 2 Watt Micro being one of them) and through battery-leakages or bike crashes, the lights themselves aren't usable, but because I have multiple mounts, I can easily swap this light from bike to bike without removing the mount. Even the light piece is exchangeable with my Blaze, so if the light piece from this ever dies, I can still use my other light with this battery housing. The beam is a little narrower than the Blaze, and at a distance seems a bit dimmer. In the photos, the Beamer 3 is on the left, the Blaze is on the right. The first photo shows the beam at about 4 inches from the wall, and the second photo is about 4 feet from the door.

Worth The Money!
Only used once, but there's stuff to say:First, do NOT forget how economical this light is... if you NEED more light, check out the 1W and 2W PB lights.Mounting: I found the mount to be well designed, able to use very small increments to adjust. That being said, I got the a point where I could clamp it, but one more turn tighter (the cam that "locks" is on a screw, so you can make fine fit adjustments) and I could not (wasn't willing to try and force it, I needed the light the day I installed it... it COULD be that I could go that one more step). As such, one can adjust the beam up and down as the mount did a bit of sliding on the bars. The fact of the length of the light itself helped add leverage. HOWEVER, during the ride (15 miles over sometimes bumpy stuff) it seemed to stay put. So this is most likely NOT a real issue. Not to mention that it can be helpful. I can easily see times when I may want to spot closer to me and times I wanted it farther away. So it looks like I have to turn it on, then micro adjust it before I take off, at least it DOES stay put once it's on and you're riding.Light Unit: One MAJOR design flaw. The button, nicely encased in a rubber boot, is located totally wrong. It is way too far forward, and a tad stiff. The result is that there's no way you can NOT change the angle pressing it. Even if you brace the underside, you still can alter how the beam plays. The button SHOULD be directly in line over the bars which it is mounted on.Light Itself: I was pleasantly surprised . It's really not so bad, especially for a [...] buck light. I like that it has a sharp pattern, that means an elongated "oval" spread out in front of me. If they had to spread out farther left and right, it would diminish the intensity of the light where it DID hit the road. The ride was in a Park so it had sections where I could not see the light (more than bright enough from Park lampposts) to pretty dark spaces, no lampposts, under trees). The darker it got, the more I could see the light.Overall: Obviously, one has to temper the amount of light it puts out with cost, AND how one uses it. For me, this is a perfect combo as I live in a very urban city and only really need it for the occasional Park rides. I could IMAGINE it being very useful in other situations, but certainly NOT for riding hell bent with no moonlight through a dense forest. BUT at a far more leisurely pace, I'd find it useful in that situation, although I'd probably prefer a 2W light.I'd say it gives one somewhat more value than the price might indicate.

Two Might Be Better
Comparing the Beamer 5 White LED light with the Beamer 3 White LED light, both are very good. The 5 LED light quality is quite white, the 3 LED has a blueish tint. Both are very bright to look at but, compared to the brightness of the light emitted, do not supply as much road illumination as might be expected. The 5 LED seems to have a longer throw.Contrary to other reports, I think the mounting brackets are well designed. Both the strap and the cam lock can be adjusted. Out of the box the brackets were oversized for my slightly less than 1 inch, 23 mm diameter handle bar (which is actually slightly oval shaped). I simply pushed in the flexible strap two clicks and then made finer adjustments with the threaded cam lock, no tools needed. The brackets can be made to fit snugly yet still allow the angle to be adjusted while riding if desired. Both lights have a flash setting, and either are adequate in alerting others to your presence. While riding on rural, unlit roads and trails, I found my original purchase, the 5 LED, to provide less light than desired, so I purchased the 3 LED. Having done so, I compared the two lights using new batteries from the same package and measuring the same voltage. After comparing the lights, I am using both, one on either side of the handlebar stem. The configuration that works for me is having a low and high beam, the 3 LED serving as the low beam, the 5 LED as the high beam.Normally I use rechargeable batteries, and the battery life is very good with these LED lights. Battery recharging can be offset so that at least one of the lights will provide light even if the other fades. With two lights, one or both can be used in the flashing mode. This possibility could be especially useful if you are riding in a celebratory parade. If your riding is mostly in an urban/city area and want to be seen or simply be legal, probably either one of these lights will do the job. If you really need to see the details of what's ahead you might consider two lights, as neither of these might do the job.

Not as bright as expected
Way less bright I was expecting. Compared to Planet Bike Blaze 140, itβs less than half the brightness. Deceiving. Good thing is that it uses replaceable batteries and I use rechargeable ones.

Takes AA batteries
I bought this light because it uses replaceable batteries, which is hard to find these days. can't stand plugging a bike light in as it will always be drained when you least expect it and then you will throw the thing out in three years when the rechargeable batteries fails. Puts out a good beam and lasts most of the year as I ride at night once a week max.

I have purchased this item two times over. The first time it broke in peaces, while the front of the second light I purchased keeps popping off. Although this light is bright it is certainly not very durable.

Fantastic light Great bang for the buck
I am extremely impressed with this light. Yes.. the mount is a little tricky.. but 3 minutes later it was attached and working perfectly. Much brighter then I had expected. Great width and handy handlebar lights.

Not up to our basic standards.
Disappointed in the brightness of this light. We purchased this one when the bike fell and the Canadian Tire product broke. The Canadian Tire was cheaper and brighter plus it cost less.
