Things to consider

The pan itself is made from a dense foam product. The surface isn't perfectly smooth, but they instruct you not to sand or alter it in any way.The pan drain extends 2 inches into the sub-floor and requires a hole about 6 inches in diameter to accommodate the funnel shape of the drain aspect of the pan. The output of the drain glues directly to 2" PVC which will require 3/4" of length to couple with the pan drain. The manufacture recommends the pan be set in mortar, which for the rib-backed pan I purchased, came to be over 50# of dry mix. The mortar added about 1/4" to the final resting height of the pan. The net result was the PVC drain pipe was place about 1-inch below grade. If you don't have access from below, this may require some creative thinking. The vertical components of the pan are a solid half-inch thick (a bit more with the flashing installed) while typical backer board is something like 13/32”. This results in an 1/8” transition at the pan. Plan to shim the backer off the studs to match the pan.The included "Redi Epoxy" is required for installing tile on the pan itself (Part A, Part B and sand). They recommend a 1/8 x 1/8 trowel. Half of the epoxy provided is enough to tile the floor of the pan. Set aside enough non-mixed epoxy to address the curb and walls of the pan. The epoxy cures overnight, becoming miserably hard, so be mindful to clean up while you can.The included chrome drain is just smaller than a 4-inch diamond wheel (for angle grinders). Shove a rag down the drain to protect it from debris. Install the tile in the epoxy to overhang the drain opening. After the epoxy cures and the grout is dry, invert the drain cover atop the tile and trace the opening onto the tile. Then work your 4-inch diamond wheel to remove the excess material. The foam of the curb is not likely to withstand foot traffic nor be wide enough to receive a frameless door system. Anticipate widening and re-enforcing the curb structure.Practices that may cost you your warranty but save your sanity: (1) if you discover a small flaw in the pan surface, consider mixing some epoxy without the sand to seal these areas before continuing. (2) Often one doesn’t anticipate installing the pan floor and the walls (let alone starting at the bottom) in the same setting. If you don’t want deal with splitting the batch of epoxy in half, then when you install the pan tile, simply apply a thin coating of the sanded epoxy to the vertical surfaces of the pan to give them some tooth. After it cures, use standard thin set to adhere the vertical tile over the epoxy. (3) To build out the curb, apply a layer of tile backer board to the inside and two layers to the outside. Be sure these are a touch taller than the foam curb such that the final product doesn’t rest on the foam. Make a thin-set-sandwich.

Not exactly as pictured

I received this item in tact, however the picture is deceiving. The picture shows a larger curb and this is for a 2” wide curb. Not quite what we expected from the photo. Be sure you understand that the curb in the photo appears to be 2x wider than what you will receive

Did not come with epoxy.

Did not come with epoxy mix to set tile. Had to drive to a place an hour away to purchase an epoxy to set tile. Would not purchase again. Cost me to much time and money because epoxy not packaged with product. What a waste of good money

Not good for a remodel

Number one, this thing is way too expensive for what you getNumber two, If there is access from below it would be an easy install. Trying to match the drain is a nightmare. The preinstalled drain extends 2 inches below the pan and no where close to the old tub drain. I would suggest not ordering anything until you have removed the old tub and can evaluate the scene. After removing the old tub I realized that the copper water supply pipes were installed 1/2 inch into the space for the tub and solidly in the concrete slab. Should have stopped right there and reevaluated what I wanted to do. This meant that the pan would be shifted 1/2 inch to the left and created some real opportunities. I admit that a lot of my problems came from trying to keep the existing wall tiles since they looked good and not 50 years old. Trying to save on costs is not always the right thing to do.

What a rip-off

$700 for what? What a rip-off, it's a cheap plastic mold with a drain that's not even centered which makes it very obvious with our tile. Tile Redi seems to have a hold on this specific market item, hoping someone else will produce a similar product and doesn't charge an exorbitant amount for a cheap tile mold.
