Tarot and Individuation: A Personal Response
In the years since I first read Tarot and Individuation, slowly and cover to cover, I have often had occassion to refer to it, as it is really three or four books in a single volume and includes correspondences of interest to me, beyond the Cabala and alchemy noted in its subtitle. Sometimes I have come across a Hebrew letter that I want to know more about; or, at other times, it may be a number whose symbolic meaning I want to explore. (There are aslo astrological, psychological, and depth-psychological references to each card). More often than these, however, it's one of Jung's quotes (marked with a yellow tag) that nags at me until I can find it again. But when I think about that book and what it means to me, my first image - one that tells the whole story, actually - is of the descent of the Lightning Flash and the Return of the Serpent superimposed on a Tree of Life hung with the major arcana dangling in its branches. I'm grateful for the image and the book because what is outlined in the introduction is explicated at great length in the 22 chapters that follow, so that some of what I may not understand today might become clearer with another reading. Further, it gives me the sense that, having made the trip down, there is a way back; that although the way back is arduous, the major arcana that I encounter as I climb from branch to branch, however slowly or clumsily, are a real resource that can be consulted for their synchronous wisdom; that although no one has climbed my particular climb before nor will after me, I am, after all, connected to a realm that supports this endeavor, my knowing the way (going all the way) from the place of the heart chakra to Malkuth, and back, and more. One way to connect to that realm is by way of a thoughtful reading of this book.

Great Resource for Tarot Research
This is my go-to book for a system I'm developing using Dr. Gad's tarot / astrological correspondences. In particular, her take on The Hierophant is brilliant.

Covers the major arcana only. Original and detailed
Very interesting and comprehensive. Well worth the purchase, the approach is novel and much more than the usual works. Not a quick read, more of a study guide.

EXCELLENT
I've yet to read a good deal of this book but from what I've been able to read thus far I have not at all wasted my money. Incredibly well researched but not at all light reading. This is a book for the very serious student or ongoing study of tarot. Pick a time & place when you're least likely to have interruption. This book as well written as it may be just may have you rereading a paragraph or two. I've begun taking notes in many of my books of this type. I hate doing that but it's necessary for me at this time in my life

To say this is esoteric doesn't begin to cover the depth and breadth Gad brings to the Tarot from many different angles; symbolic, Jungian, Kabalah, etc. It will add depth and dimension to your understanding and appreciation of the myths and symbols incorporated in Tarot. Worth reading again and again and consulting as time goes on. Should be a permanent fixture in one's spiritual library.

Hugely Disappointing!
There is very, very little information that pertains at all to Jungian Individuation in this book - which was the main reason I bought it. I'm honestly not sure why it was even entitled "Tarot and Individuation". I would not buy it again and as someone with a huge interest in Jungian psychology I wouldn't recommend this book.

Great reference book
This is not a book for the average tarot book reader, but rather for an academic reading about the esoteric meanings of the tarot cards and their precisely intended symbols. Gad's work is more like a dissertation than anything else and I used it for my own thesis work. Gad offers a tremendous amount of information, most of which is very insightful. I really appreciate her work and the various associations she provides about the major arcana cards. I highly recommend this book!
