Lovely details!
We got this for our 11 year old daughter. She loves working on it, but needs an adult to help with assembly (which is fine because her dad and I both enjoy putting it together!). It's a fun little project! The instructions are a little skimpy, but still pretty easy to follow. The details on the carousel are lovely and everything so far has fit together really well. The quality seems great! Looking forward to finishing it and looking into other models to do in the future!

Challenging to assemble but fun
I bought it because I don’t have room to build another dollhouse and I love music boxes and carousels. I for most of the assembly did not have issues with breaking pieces because I used a pointy craft knife to go around the pieces before removing them from the sheets. The piece that did break was the outside ring thats about level with the horses feet with the hearts attached on top. It broke in two places while i was sanding the edges. I used Quick Hold craft glue because wood glue takes to long to dry and it had to be held together because tape wasnt going to hold it tight enough. The only other issue was getting the horse gears lined up properly. I suggest getting your own wax because the little piece that comes with it is a joke. To hard to apply and there was not even close to enough for all the pieces that need wax. I used a soy candle my son gave me and it has a tad greasy quality that i feel was needed to get this to move properly. Anyhow looks like i will make another one because my granddaughter saw it in the background while facetiming and said I need to send it to her. I saw somewhere that it said assembly time was 4.5 hours. I completely disagree and dont see that as even possible. Its not something to throw together. Patience is really what you need to assemble and have it function. Not sorry i bought it and will be doing another soon. Oh one more tip and that is that there are a few parts that I recommend glue like those hearts and half brackets on that outer mid circle but careful where the glue is otherwise it may hinder something that was meant to move. I used gel pens on mine fyi and added some nail gems.

Wriggle, jiggle, don't force it...
Rolling along to assembly, got to Step 3, part D10, ran into issue. Assembly stuck. Other than that, seemed an interesting project.

Beautiful project - be sure to set realistic expectations
I have built a number of ROKR projects with my family and have found their products to be very high quality. This is an excellent kit but keep in mind what these projects entail. Pieces are delicate. They are not unreasonably prone to breakage but this is a wood project with very small, delicate pieces. Handle with care. Read the instructions carefully. Instructions are very clear and consistent across these products. But a project like this does require patience and attention to detail. This is definitely not something to slap together while you are checking Facebook. Wood gearing will not turn as smoothly as metal. This is simply a reality of wood-based projects like this. There will be some resistance during movement and things will not move quite as smoothly as if it were constructed from metal. Be sure to lubricate all of the pieces that need it (per the instructions). Instead of candle wax, I use a dry silicone lubricant that seems to work well and is easy to apply.

Easy assembly for those that are good at following picture directions.
Very intricate model. I'm 73, i used a lighted magnifying head piece, which I'm sure made it easier. Ad says for 14yr and older but unless the 14yr old has patience, it might become frustrating. It took approximately 15 hours to assemble. Pay attention to waxing the areas designated to achieve smooth operation. Bought this as an item to make for a granddaughter, she will love it.

Wax generously
Watch the instructions closely. I missed one decorative part at the appropriate time and had to add it later. Fortunately, I was able to retrofit into the proper location but had to remove a tab and attach with a drop of glue. Wax is very important on ALL moving parts. If you don't use enough, it won't work and it is very hard to try and go back if you didn't use enough the first time. Fortunately, I read this in other reviews so I didn't have a problem, but it will definitely be an issue if you don't use enough. I bought some paraffin in the canning supplies section of the grocery store to supplement what was provided in the kit. The piece of paraffin provided isn't enough and it also breaks easily into little pieces after waxing some gears.

Fun to build and charming to look at.
The mechanics are great and watching the carousel horses move around and up and down is very satisfying. It is easy to make a mistake so directions should be carefully studied and followed properly.

Great heirloom idea for great grandson
I wanted to make this for the birth of my great grandson. It took me a lot longer as I painted the parts prior to construction. I used a watercolor paint as I wanted it to have that look and I wanted the imprinted lines standout. Some of the fiddle parts did break, but I was a little rough at times and was able to save them. Usually only damaged due to my error in construction timing. Still it all worked when it was done. I built a mahogany base and an acrylic box to protect it. When revealed it was the certainly the scene stealer at the baby shower! Hopefully will remain with him for a long time.

La qualité du produit
Je choisi ce produit parce que j'aime la construction et voir le sujet grandir étape par étape. Certaine pièce sont vraiment fragile mais avec beaucoup de précaution on réussi à tout assembler. Je suis fier du résultat.

Beautiful but many fragile pieces.
This is the second puzzle I’ve done. I found this more difficult than the starry nights because so many small pieces that were easy to break and assembly required a lot of pressure to put together. I had to go very slowly and ensure that I was very gently applying the pressure and making sure I actually had the pieces tightly put together. The company was great to send a free piece out, but you do have to pay for shipping and you cannot go any further until you have the piece you broke. So if you break another piece, then you have to pay shipping again for that piece. To ship to Canada , one piece cost 8 $. So it could get very expensive if you start breaking pieces. As another person suggested, I did use a hot glue gun on some of the really fragile pieces, but that wouldn’t be possible if break certain pieces like rings that hold it together. That is why I only gave it a three star.

Painful fingers
Did this over 3 days. It was NOT the easiest to put everything together. After I did about 70%, I realized there was a huge design flaw at about 50%, so I had to take apart and make a minor adjustment. The adjustment was that the middle thing that turned had too much space to turn in, and since there was only one gear to turn it, as opposed to 2 gears on opposite sides, and also due to high friction, it does NOT move in a circle but more elliptical. Had to glue down some tiny "guard rails" where a second set of gears should have been, but careful to avoid taking up space of something else. So, at the end of all that, I had wax everywhere, and super painful fingertips. Only broke 2 pieces and I already had super glue so no biggie. However! One of my horses kept falling apart so also had to glue that in. That is a model design error again. At the end though, it works, and especially well if you put it on a vibrating surface (decreases friction). Without a few shakes, the last two winds of the music box will not unwind as that motor is too weak. Again, if they added a 2nd gear at the base, it would help a great deal.

Design Flaw?
There appears to be a flaw in the design. Despite my daughter taking it back down twice, the horses do not go up and down as the gears lock up and do not turn smoothly. The whole carousel turns at a slight tilt which causes the carousel to stop until you give it a little push. Disappointing as it was to be a finished product gifted to her auntie who loves horses for Christmas. Now trying to decide if we should just donate it to goodwill or trash it. Costly and we have ordered two quartz pendulum clocks as well. Hope they are more workable than item. Would not recommend unless you work with wood and can figure how to balance the carousel out to turn smoothly.
