Q: Are these gloves similiar to Wells Lamont 7690 that are padded? And if so are they just as good or better?

Not sure about the comparison to Wells Lamont glove but it's a good glove. It is not padded but a great fitting well built glove.

Q: do these gloves tend to run big? i have very square hands and large fingers, so I dont know if i should get Large or XL. palm measures at 10.35"

No they tend to run true to size. There is some give to them so they fit snug. I had the same issue and I ending up getting 4 pair of these. GREAT FIT
