Best Infinity Ward/Activision Game so Far
Although I have not had a chance to enjoy the multiplayer side to this game, it is the best game I have played- ever. That is, until Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 comes out. I highly recommend buying this game and playing through to the end Before purchasing the sequel game (mentioned above). Graphics are great, the mechanics are sound, interface is the best of the Call of Duty games so far, the sheer variety of actual weapons is amazing, and the plot is well thought out, and perfectly executed. For those not familiar with other fps (first person shooters) this is one of the best out there. You carry a main gun, a sidearm, grenades, and a knife. You can swap out your main gun if you find something better, and you can also swap out your pistol if you come across a gun you like better- like a P-90, or the classic AK-47. The knife is used for melee attacks, which are as underdeveloped as any game like this. Just hit the other person before he hits you, and you're good. Throwing a grenade isn't as easy as it sounds- they bounce. And ene,my personnel, just like you, can pick up a grenade and throw it back if they get to it in time. Their are smoke grenades, flashbang grenades, and frag grenades (the best kind). The rest of the gameplay (i.e. shooting) is very cool. While sniping you need to keep track of range and wind conditions- and believe me, on all but the easiest setting this actually matters! Also, it can take several bullets depending on the gun being used to kill someone. A P-90 takes a few bullets more than your standard assault rifle. You play as either one of two characters depending on the mission at hand: British S.A.S. Commando Sergeant 'Soap' MacTavish, or United States Marine Sergeant Paul Jackson. Soap's commanding officer, Captain Price, is playable in a flashback mission- where you get to be a sniper. Fun! Other single mission playables are as an S.A.S. shooter operating an AC-130 Gunship; another S.A.S. officer, this time infiltrating an enemy plane and rescuing someone aboard before leaping out (very James Bond) during the bonus epilogue mission. I won't say any more regarding the plot and characters, simply because I don't want to ruin anything for anybody. I know some people like to play video games like they watch movies- with zero spoilers involved. The best part of this game is supposed to be the multiplayer missions- which I have regrettably not had the chance to partake in. I have seen it played on the xbox, but not the PC or Mac. While I do own a Mac computer- be assured this review is for the PC version of the game. I hope you all enjoy this game as much as I have. Please buy it and try for yourselves. It's very fun.

Best FPS war game I've played in a while
Here are the reasons this game earned my love: 1) The single-player campaign. I played the single-player campaign on easy, and I died in several missions. This made the campaign seem like it was challenging, but not so much that it irritated me. The campaigns were diverse and allowed for diverse gameplay. At times you are a sniper, ghost recon, support, firing from a helicopter, or just plain invading. The story is really creative and throws a lot at you. 2) Multiplayer. Lots of people are still playing online. You can do survival modes against zombies, robots, or prisoners. You can also do team deathmatch or free-for-all. Some of the maps are small, some are large. So it adds a lot of variety. There are also a few mods you can get to make gameplay different. 3) The loadouts. You can pretty much customize what type of soldier you are in this game. That makes gameplay more fun and increases the replay level.

Surprising, and replayable!
This is the first Call of Duty game that takes place in modern times, after seven WW2-themed games Infinity Ward decided to make a bold step by changing the entire franchise. This game is, however, also the reason why Call of Duty is no longer set in World War 2. Now every Call of Duty that came after this takes place either in modern times, Cold War, or the future (With the exception of World at War, which came the year after this game was released). SINGLEPLAYER: The singleplayer campaign is very interesting and fun. You never know what to expect next when playing it. Although it is very short, you can make it last longer by trying to find all 30 Enemy Intel laptops scattered throughout most levels. When you get certain numbers of these laptops you unlock cheats for the campaign. Once you complete the campaign you unlock Arcade Mode. You can play the campaign again but now you have a killscore. It isn't anything different from the regular campaign other than that. There are various weapons that you can get in the campaign. It's fun to try and experiment with the enemy's weapons and see how they compare to your starting weapons. There are 3 playable main characters and 2 minor ones. MULTIPLAYER: Nobody plays it anymore without a hacker client as this is almost a 9-year old game. Although this comes with a mod called "ModWarfare" where it gives you the highest level in the game (55). You can experiment with the multiplayer-exclusive weapons for a little while. MUSIC: The music in this game is exciting, there are quite a few good songs in this game. EXTRAS: The only different between the original game and this Game of the Year edition is that it comes with 4 new multiplayer maps. But since multiplayer doesn't work anymore buy the original game if it costs less. OVERALL: While this may be a very interesting game and was the first modern time-themed Call of Duty game, it is also the reason why Infinity Ward decided to start copying this game when they made Modern Warfare 2, 3, and Ghosts. This is still very much worth buying, and it doesn't require Steam to play. Which is great because Steam spies on your computer and tells everyone when you're online and what you're playing. I definitely recommend this game, but only if it costs less than the original at the time you're thinking of buying this.

Great Game
This is a great combat game. I own other Call of Duty games but I always return to play this one. This game does not require top of the line laptop for gaming or a powerful video card for your desktop. I play this game on my regular laptop. It is not a gaming laptop but i had to change some graphic settings. Such as turn off all graphic enhancement settings. I've purchased Call of Duty World at War and Black Ops, they require a decent graphic card (video card) so you can play it. I really enjoy play this game but MAKE SURE YOU UPDATE IT! Go to this web address [...] or look it up by searching call of duty modern warfare update 1.6. Download the update onto your computer and thats it. Its very easy to do. I recommend this game.

Worked on Win7 ok (single)
Single player loaded and boots right up. Plays smooth no problems on win7. About half my stuff has issues with win7 on my new i7 2600. Nice to know it works. This is coop all the way. Mapping your own controls works well on pc. It does treat you a bit like an idiot. Go there, hurry up, you are an idiot. I like the lone wolf approach better. Give me an objective and I will get it done. The coop is kind of cool in that you can charge in, known enemies on the flanks, and your teammates will clean up behind you. Online will not boot up. I bought it for single player but it should work. Not sure what happened but I turned down the punkbuster install and I don't know if there is a connection. Don't care either. Mildly entertaining and not full price and NO DRM planting crap deep in my new comp. That sold me right there. I still don't trust EA. They got into my Pentium D with Crysis and Red alert 3. I had no idea it was that invasive. Crooked corporation of stooges. Stoopid monkeys. And it cost them money from me at least no sales of EA stuff since. 3 stars mild fun decent price. Fair bargain.

Great CoD game
CoD and Battlefield are the most recognizable names when it comes to FPS and multiplayer FPS. Given I enjoy offline play more, I really only purchase these games for the campaign modes. CoD4: MW was no disappointment. Having played MW2, I felt I needed to get though this game as well. Graphically, its pretty good given its release date. Gameplay/controls will be familiar to anyone who has played a CoD before. I cannot comment on multiplayer as I stated, I do not play these games online. Install was no a problem. Insert the disc, enter serial code, install, play the game. Simple. I was able to run MW2 on my older machine (Core2duo) without any issues so I knew I wouldn't have any problems with this game on my new machine.

Hidden snooping software
I bought this game to play, but it has a snooping program attached to it that demands to be able to search your computer for anything it thinks is not a true copy of software. I declined to load that software, (I don't load anything on my computer I cant identify) and the program will not run. I tried reloading it 4 times, the stand alone wont recognize its own DVD right after it loads the software and the online version gives me an error due to not being able to find the "Punkbuster" software. This software package is setup to snoop your computer. I advise against it, there is not telling what else its snooping besides your software.

A game to play if you are a first person shooter fan
Its been great playing a old game from the time before battle passes and loot boxes. Campaign is awesome like most Call of Duty games from this era. Multiplayer after all these years is still up and running worth playing if you haven't yet. The product came in well nothing was wrong with it its always good to go back to the roots and be a OG with yo games sure some stuff may be outdated compared to these days but its always a good time on modern warfare

Still one of the best.
Although a few years old, this game still gets it done. Great intensity, lots of combat situations and a fun story-line. Also works great on Windows 10 so not to worry if you think it might not play. I have only used the single player mode but that has not disappointed as it is deep and addictive.
