Great For The Price
This is a very good Sax for the price. It is a definite step up from the Legacy both in sound and workmanship (I previously reviewed the Legacy). The case looks very durable and is made of a heavier grade nylon with ample storage. My son assembled it and ran it through some scales and we found that the Octave Key had a slight gap not allowing him to hit the lower notes. We contacted a local music shop and they made a slight adjustment to the neck for free and everything turned out fine. We also contacted Antigua and they were very quick to respond. I felt confident that the Company would have backed up there product if it need something more. The sound and playability are on par with the Jupiter Saxophone we had. I think the Antigua is a solid instrument and should last from 6th to 12th grade.

The intonation is far better than the Jupiter
My 7th grader started last year with a Jupiter. Once he tried his new Antigua, it was night and day. He really enjoys playing now, it is a lot smoother hitting really high and really low notes. The intonation is far better than the Jupiter. We did however, buy a replacement ligature because it was difficult to use and also purchased a different neck strap, the one that comes with it is not "cushy". The case is much lighter and comes with padded straps to turn it into a backpack! He doesn't use them, but neat touch. Overall, a fine instrument that he loves to play! And even if he plays it for 8th grade, it will be cheaper than renting.
