Perfect size, quality, and versatility. You won't regret it.
Why you should buy the Rebar:• Excellent build quality. USA made. No play, no rattling, no machining marks, everything is smooth and precise. Solid steel construction, no plastic parts.• Good selection of tools. Replaceable 154CM wire-cutters (Torx 8 to remove). All tools lock in place. D2 tool steel Philips driver. Beefy awl, full size file and blades (plain edge, and serrated), very aggressive saw.• Comfortable handles. Rounded-off edges provide a nice grip for extended usage.• Size and weight. This is the lightest of Leatherman's full-size tools. Can comfortably rest in a pocket or on your belt, while still having most tools you'll need, plus one of the best plier heads in the multitool world.• 25-year warranty from Leatherman. As long as you don't go crazy with it, you will be passing it down to your kids. Why you should not buy the Rebar:While an excellent tool, the Rebar may not fit your needs as well as another multitool might. By design, this will not appeal to everybody.• All tools are accessible by opening the tool up. This has its pros and cons. It makes the tool smoother, with fewer edges that could catch on your pants/pockets, and not as prone to dirt etc, not to mention that one-handed opening blades are illegal in many countries. Depending on which tools you will use the most, the Rebar's design may not suit your needs.• No scissors. Having no scissors by choice of design is not a flaw (having ineffective scissors would be a flaw). If you want scissors in a multitool it should be obvious that the Rebar should not be your first choice.• No spring-loaded pliers. Like having no scissors, having no spring in the pliers is a design choice. They chose to make it like it is. If spring-loaded pliers are high in your priority list, this is not the tool you are looking for.• No pocket clip. Though easily carried in a pocket, it cannot actually be clipped on one. The Rebar is not a one-handed, rapid deployment tool, so it would make sense not to have a pocket clip on it. You could add one if you really wanted, though.• It's too small for you. While very capable, there are larger models by Leatherman that may better suit your heavy-duty needs.Note on the standard sheath:The difference between Rebar with no sheath and Rebar with this sheath was only $1.5, so I guess it is worth it to get it with a sheath. However, this sheath is not made specifically for the Rebar. It is too flat and too wide for the Rebar. It just fits but it is obviously a generic sheath, which is made in China, no less. It had signs of fraying right out the box, so I wouldn't trust it to last. Note that sheaths are not covered by Leatherman's 25-year warranty. It is rather odd that a company that takes pride in manufacturing its tools in USA includes a Chinese-made sheath. I would have guessed that they would offer their products with either no sheath, or their own, USA-made sheaths. It is what it is, and for $1.5, you might as well go for this Rebar than with no sheath at all. The tool is superb, the sheath is disposable. Conclusion:Do your research before you buy a multitool. Set your priorities first, and buy a multitool that covers them adequately. Don't buy a multitool and try to adjust your needs to it.Think about what's important to you.Are you buying it to use it, or just because it looks cool? Are you buying it for work, hobbies, or just to have one?Are you buying it for the pliers, and considering everything else a bonus? Are you buying it mainly for the blades? The Rebar does not fit everyone's needs, but there are many different designs out there, so there should be something for everyone.Check prices, check reviews, and if possible, go to a shop and get to hold it in your hands.Finding the ideal multitool, with the perfect tool selection, quality, ergonomics, and price, is very difficult. You will probably have to buy a few. But eventually, you'll find something that is almost perfect. For me, it's the Rebar.Photos:1. Surge, Rebar, Wingman, Micra.2. Surge and Rebar pliers. Note the same size on the wire-cutters.3. Rebar and Micra closed.4. Rebar and Wingman pliers. 154CM shear-type replaceable wire-cutters on the Rebar, non-replaceable pinch-type on the Wingman.

Timeless Quailty
Had one similar to this many years ago. Left it on a job somewhere between Minnesota and Wisconsin.Quality is still excellent. The size is perfect. Not too big and heavy. Not to small so my big hands can't handle it. Just the right amount of tools for my home handiman use. Pliers aren't spring loaded but that's not a deal breaker for me. It doesn't have a scissors, again no deal breaker since I couldn't get the hang of them anyway. Kind of miss the distinctive leatherman leather pouch but not enough not to purchase it.

Solid tool with good set of features
I have two Rebars. The first one was purchased brand new in original package at full price about 9 months ago on Amazon. The more recent one was purchased new, open box at a substantial discount on another online marketplace. I also should note that the first one came with the nylon sheath, the newer one came with the leather sheath. For some reason I prefer the nylon. Things I really like about the Rebar: Good set of tools. The ones that are supposed to be sharp are very sharp. You get a plain edge blade, a serrated blade and a saw. Can't ask for much more. All tools lock, even the smaller ones. Unlike most Leatherman multi-tools, the Rebar has an actual 3D Philips head screwdriver with a decent length. That's a huge plus. It's also the right size so it can accept a 1/4" barrel style bit adapter. Major plus right there. Nice pliers head with replaceable wire cutter blades. The whole thing feels well built, not too heavy and well balanced in the hand. Also sized right. Not too big, not too small. Things I do not like about the Rebar (reason for 4 stars): Does not have spring loaded pliers. Does not come with a pocket clip. Does not have outside accessible tools. It must be opened to get to anything. Does not have scissors (not a deal breaker but I do like having scissors). Last and finally, the way that the frame is constructed, the edges can dig into your hand if squeezing hard on the pliers. While not inexpensive at $80, at least the Rebar is priced well under $100 and is definitely worth taking a good look at if you're in the market for a Leatherman.

Great multitool
Unfortunately somehow lost my old leatherman. I don't go anywhere without one. I'm still getting used to the Rebar but I think once it breaks in a bit and I use it longer i will like it more than my old one. It is solid like every leatherman I have owned. Some reviews complain that the tool is too loose and sloppy...i can't really see how that is possible. When new every leatherman I have owned, 2 or 3 by now, Is a little stiff and wear in over time. The file is better than my old one they added a wire stripper and it actually works and the two blades came sharp right out of the box. I have owned a Gerber in the past but never cared for any of the screwdrivers that come on there tools. Leatherman has nice long usable screwdrivers and these are the best I've used on a leatherman yet. The tools also lock into place which I do think is a great feature. All around great tool to keep in your pocket or on belt and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quality multitool.
