l liked that I received it before Christmas! I am making a music box for my wife. I do scroll saw projects and saw the pattern on Steve Good"s blog that I subscribe to and wanted to give it a go. Since it is made in China I only gave it four stars. They only send machine screws to attach this mechanism to what you are building. The mechanism has several holes that have been tapped for machine screws which are included so I am altering it to accept wood screws to attach to the base of the music box. Since my wife does her scripture reading every morning I purchased the mechanism in the Amazing Grace music selection. As far as quality, we'll see down the line. Do not judge the sound until you attach it to the box you are making, it becomes much more amplified attached to a wooden enclosure. Hope this helps but this is the first movement I have ever chosen.

Great sound once mounted in box. Don’t be discouraged if you try it before mounting in a box. Volume and sound quality will increase 400% Great value and a fun project piece.

The music box was to be a gift for someone in the lead (Juliet) in the play Romeo and Juliet. It took nearly a month to arrive and only with the music box touching my ear can I hear any sound. I am not giving it as a gift and have already put it in the trash.

This review is for all of the devices. She didn't include any information as to which 18 note device played what tune. Had to go to several web sights and listen to notes from the units there in order to determine which device played what tune. still have one which I can't figure out.

I was generally satisfied with the product. It's true that you have to put it in a box to get the proper sound and volume. I purchased it to install in a box I already had and encountered much difficulty because the stem of the winder was not long enough to accomodate the thickness of the wood. More trouble than it was worth. The main defect of the music box itself is that the spring is barely strong enough to unwind the the key, therefore a good portion of the tune remains unplayed unless I help it along by "unwinding" the key. This is significant considering the relatively short play time even under optimum circumstances.

We bought three of these. Two worked, third did not work for long, spring action not working after winding. Happy with the two that worked. Tracking not updated but we received it a week before the delivery date, but took over 3 weeks. Difficult to find the songs we wanted so may puchase again. Purchase from other manufacturer with better quality but they have limited music selection so its a trade off. It is an okay deal when working on end product of a custom music box. Thanks.

My wife had an old music box which was not working. The spring had been overwound and sprung. She asked me if there was anything I could do. I spotted this on Amazon for under $10 and decided at that price it was worth a try.End result is a music box that works and a happy wife!

The media could not be loaded.  I had a music box shaped like a piano my grandkids broke. I replaced it with this. Super easy and sounds wonderful!
