I've been looking for a sauce to match one in my favorite, local Thai restaurant. This paste matches it very nicely by taking one tablespoon of paste, plus one can of coconut milk, and a splash of fish sauce (as described on the package). I simmer the sauce, add 1/2 cup of pre-cooked chicken breast and cook for 30 minutes. For serving, I put some basmati rice on a plate, top the rice with some stir fry vegetables (prepared in a microwave), and then ladle on the sauce plus chicken. Excellent flavor and very easy to prepare. This should feed 2-4 people, depending on how hungry they are. Personally, I get two very generous servings out of this combination. There is probably enough paste in the plastic pouch to make three pots of the sauce.

This was good! Each packet will make several curries, so it’s a great value. Stock up on coconut milk.

It's very tasty but after reading that it's mild I went ahead and put the whole packet into two cans of coconut milk -- twice the amount of milk the package calls for -- and added it to veggies and tofu. Then I reached for a fire extinguisher -- that stuff is HOT if you ask me. I got a second opinion from someone who is more heat-tolerant and he agreed it was too much to take. It hurt! I added a third can of coconut milk, a bit of cream and some sugar to tone it down and now it's edible but unfortunately a lot of the other flavors are diluted. I guess I will stick to my local Thai restaurant where they make it just as tasty without so much heat. If you're a heat wimp like me, I'd recommend adding a bit at a time rather than dumping it in.

This product was recommended on a cooking blog I love, so I felt confident purchasing it. So disappointed! Truly the worst panang curry I've tried. The flavor was really off, and couldn't be corrected. Dinner ruined.

I've used other Taste of Thai products so I decided to try this Panang curry paste. I made this for my husband & I for dinner. I cooked 7 large shrimp (not completly cooked through) took out of pan to add back later. Cooked 2 chopped garlic cloves in pan. Added a can of coconut milk & about 2 tablespoons (to taste) of Panang paste. Added some splash of fish oil, cilantro, lime juice & added back the shrimp for about 1 minute. Served on top of jasmine rice. Yum, the flavors in the past are fantastic.

I've had Panang curry from several restaurants and this kind of misses the mark. I've tried several things and while it's similar, it kind of lacks flavor. The instructions do not offer a vegan option for fish sauce. They say to add soy sauce but it just is not the same. The spice is there but something is missing. It's nice not to have to purchase and mix all of the ingredients yourself, but it's really not that great.
