Good, but be careful of the adapters
It works, and I'm not sure if it's fair or not, but I took a star off because I bought the wrong adapter. Is it my fault? Yes, but I hope you don't do the same thing. This will NOT connect a Baufeng HT to an external antenna; you need the UHF male adapter on the radio-side.That said, this WILL connect to many HTs (but not the one I own), so I did not get rid of the cable. I may use it in the future. So, i actually DO RECOMMEND THIS CABLE. But I have to take off the one star because of stupidity. Mine.

Outstanding
This is nothing at all like similar adapter cables I've owned in the past. All of those were flimsy, the connections had stress points that broke, and the wire gauge was so thin that it likely caused a SWR due to the impedance mismatch to the wire it was connecting to. This is a quality adapter. I'm hitting distant repeaters that I couldn't before, and I'm also getting signal reports that were far better than I was getting in the past. All because of the upgrade in quality of this adapter. Definitely recommended.**Update 1-26-2013** I'm still marveling at how much better my signal is with this adapter than it ever was in the past. I am hitting repeaters 35-40 miles away on 5 watts on my handheld VHF 2 meter radio. With this adapter connecting the radio to my mobile antenna, I'm making it in with a good, clean signal. Glad I bought this, because it improved my antenna performance easily 100%.

Be Careful of SO-239 vs PL-259
I did not notice the discrepancy between the product caption and the product description and picture when ordering. Technically this product is an SMA-to-SO-239 adapter cable. The SO-239 is the socket (female) end that mates with a plug (male) end known as a PL-259.As it turned out the product was exactly what I needed, and will probably be what most folks with a late model handheld want. But there were a few disappointed moments after I opened the package, until I could verify I had the right thing for my application. In my case both ends of the external antenna cable had PL-259 plugs so all was well.

Antenna cable adapter
I have had many of these adapters from other manufacturers, and they have all been very inferior to these. They all wear out at the stress points. I use mine to adapt my HT (walkie-talkie style) ham radio to my full-size antenna that is mounted to my car or truck. These are FAR superior to the others that I have had and I haven't worn one out yet. I bought three when I made this purchase in anticipation of them becoming non-functional after a few months of use. So far, after more than a year, all three are still in use and look and work great. Don't hesitate to purchase these as they are, in my opinion and experience, a great product.

Just what I needed...
...to connect my Uniden MHS125 handheld marine VHF radio to my Shakespeare 8' fixed vhf antenna. This SMA to PL-259 adapter cable was a perfect fit for my marine communication system project. My goal was to enhance the reception and transmission capacity of my vhf handheld radio by attaching it to the fixed mount vhf antenna on my boat. This 3' cable is flexible enough to continue to permit comfortable use of the handheld while attached to the fixed mount antenna. The SMA connection is just right, with no worry of it either coming loose or being so rigid that it could damage the connection.

Worth Every Penny & More!
A few years ago, I purchased a Pig-Tail from Radio Shack and paid three times the cost of this one. After 12 months of use, Radio Shack's Pig-Tail started to fray where the coax meets the SO-239 connection. Then I find this product, costing so much less, and yet the quality goes way beyond Radio Shack's by leaps and bounds. This item was shipped very quickly and I had it in hand in just two days!Highly recommend - and would be happy to purchase again from this company. You can't go wrong.

A good quality cable
Bought this for my father-in-law to use with his scanner. He did hook it up and is using it. No negative feedback from him, so I know it is working. Before giving it to him, I had the chance to inspect it. Cable looked to be a quality grade cable. Assembly of connectors looked very good as well. I would re-purchase this cable again if needed.

great quality
While mine had the wrong pin gender on the SMA connector, they are working with me to replace it. Everything else beyond this is very high quality - I'm quite willing to overlook an assembly error in light of that. The cable this is replacing, from Ham Radio Outlet, is completely blown out of the water by this cable.
