Having never had a bad experience with Fender amplifiers before and reading the reviews ...
I must admit I hadn't tried this amp before buying. I just needed a lightweight amp I could carry to a gig that was inaccessible by car and meant I couldn't use a bigger amp. Having never had a bad experience with Fender amplifiers before and reading the reviews I took a punt on this one. I have to say it exceeded expectations. The range of sounds it can produce using the "voice" dial is broad and all are useful. It has a full sound unlike other small amps which can sound boxy or lack body. The tone controls give a broad sweep and the onboard effects are really really good. It's also loud enough for small pub gigs without further amplification. For larger gigs it sounds great mic'd up through the PA. For the price this thing excels for both portability and sound quality.

Fender Champion 20w amp.
Having owned many amps and still do as practice amps go this is one of the best non-valve amps I have owned, good clean sounds and the amp effects are pretty good for a small twenty watter. Don't think it really has quite enough ooomph for proper gigging but would do ok for a smallish gathering. For a good blues sound I think a decent proper valve amp is essential but for the money the quality and build is very good indeed hence the five star rating here. As a first or second or backup amp I recommend this amp fully. I have been playing electric guitar now for fifty plus years so have used most makes and types out there.

Its a Fender!
It's a Fender product, you get quality, but you pay a bit more for the name, having said that you get a lot of options for a small practice amp. If you're after a heavy chugging sound, then use a bigger amp with effects pedals! And as far as the two-pin plug goes, put another lead from another amp on it, one with three pins, a standard English type of plug, most guitarists have a bigger amp and just need a practice amp for home or portability. As far as the amp goes, it's a beautiful little amp with lots of knobs and a button, to play with, and you can plug an external sound source into it to play along with, a mobile phone with a lead, and you can plug in headphones and hear the quality of the sound options. Thumbs up for this little beauty, in my opinion, and just remember, it will only sound as good as the instrument you put through it and the player who plays it...Have a nice day...

Power cable not for UK!
Very annoyed. This was ordered as a Christmas present for an active guitar-playing son, who was devastated to discover the power cable supplied is a two-prong European power cable, not the three-prong UK cable that we need. So all he can do is stare at something that he should be playing all through Christmas Day. Why did it not say in the details that you need a Europe to UK plug adapter to use it? Going to be a couple of days before we can get that for him.

The best practise/bedroom amp I’ve ever owned
I’ve had a number of ‘practice/bedroom’ amps over the years and this, in my opinion, is clearly the best I’ve had so far. I’d even go as far as to say that it is more than suitably for ‘gigging’ down the local pub etc. The ‘effects’ are superb and you can get whatever sound that suits your playing. Beginners Need not be overawed as there are a load of reviews on YouTube which make it dead easy to use
