It’s normal ceramic, but an earthen pot
If you want a container that only looks like an earthen pot, this is for you. It is like any normal glazed ceramic pot that looks like an earthen container but it’s not. I wanted a real earthenware for curd setting in summers, but it doesn’t serve the purpose. Should have returned but couldn’t.

Not made for Dahi
It is NOT made for making and storing Dahi. it's not porous, it's glazed(it says its unglazed in product description but it's glazed). and made of china clay. You need normal clay pot to make dahi.

Clay Dahi Handi
The Handi is okay but the manufacturer must give directions for use as many of us are new users and have many queries before use, which leaves many doubts about usage.

They claim it is clay but I don't think it is.
The media could not be loaded. I've purchased clay handis before but this one is White at the bottom where the unpolished part shows - at the bottom of the LID AND BOWL.Also it is polished and painted with with some coating to make it shine and look good.I feel cheated and will be returning this.It is thick and has a good weight but IS NOT CLAY.It might be ceramic or porcelain. But I wanted Mud Clay.
