The Story of the Statue of Liberty (Rise and Shine)

My daughter became a little obsessed with the Statue of Liberty when she was 5. She is now 6 ad still requests this book. She took it to school for Show and Tell. It is illustrated very well and the writing is very good. It is one of our favorites.

Great shipping. Book is a little more of the history of The Statue as opposed to its symbolism. I feel it is written over the comprehension of a 7 year old. Great illustrations, however. Shipper was amazing.

I purchased this for my 7 year old granddaughter and she loves it. It has wonderful detailed color graphics and tells the story of the Statue quickly but well. She was able to read the book with ease and there were some words in it that were above her grade level but she loved the challenge. I highly recommend the book

The text and especially the illustrations in this book were just what I needed to explain to my kindergarten students what it would be like to visit the Statue of Liberty. The illustrator shows an aerial view of the statue on Liberty Island, the ferry needed to reach the island, and New York City in the far background. He continues with pictures showing the construction of the statue to the impressive fire works celebration on the Fourth of July. The author explains the building of the statue as well as the purpose. If you had only one book to explain the Statue of Liberty to school age children, I would recommend using "The Story of the Statue of Liberty" by Betsy Maestro and illustrated by Giulio Maestro.

Lovely drawings and beautiful story for all children

My Statue of Liberty obsessed 4 year old daughter loves this book. We all have read and learned from it.

Great book for kids to learn about the Statue of Liberty. My son was interested in learning what, when and how the statue came about after seeing it as we passed on a road trip. Very informative and a great read for 7 year old.

Read this to my first grade class and it held their interest and they were able to grasp it.

Was just what our grandson needed to complete a geography project. It contained the facts required and broke down its history very well
