Blue Buffalo Wilderness High Protein, Natural Adult Healthy Weight Dry Dog Food, Chicken 24-lb

Both my dogs (a 15lb Yorkie and a 15lb Lhasa-Poo) had no trouble switching over to this food from their previous food (Wellness Core - reduced fat). I gradually added the Blue to the Core over a 1 week period and their digestive systems and appetites were just fine. The protein content of the Blue is a smidge higher than the Core, so that helps with weight management (my Yorkie is big for her breed, but also a little heavier than she should be - vet says she needs to lose a few pounds), and they like the taste! Kibble size is not too big or too tiny, but just right. Their stools were easy to pick up and they seem to be pooping less than with the Core. The food has hardly any odor/smell, and their breath is nice, too. Considering the quality ingredients, quantity of food and price - this is a MUCH better deal for me financially (Core was almost twice as much) without sacrificing quality for my little loved ones.

This product is high quality produced with the best ingredients. There is NO RICE which Consumer's Reports has asked the FDA to look into for humans because of arsenic content - so I'm not feeding any rice to my beloved Jackson! He is a very picky eater - used to boiled organic chicken breast (I know, I know, but he's been very ill). So he eats this and likes it! Be sure to introduce it a little at a time mixed with what your dog regularly eats to get them used to it. Please, please do your research (dogfoodadvisor.com) and DO NOT feed the off the shelf stuff offered - even Science Diet and the best of many use "fillers" and you will not believe what is in those fillers: rendered road kill, animals euthanized from shelters, including their collars, tags and the meds used to kill them. Do a google search for what is in rendered by products for pets and you will see. This is why our pets are no longer living 20-25 years like they used to. Feed the best - and dogfoodadvisor.com can direct you with the content of most foods to see what is in them - by-products or real ingredients. BLUE WILDERNESS IS GREAT! It was the only one for weight control for small older dogs with no rice so that was my criteria. DFA lets you pick what is best for your dog.

I don't write many reviews. Our terrier suffered for 10 years from food that did not agree with the last stop along his digestive tract. He spent more time bent in half licking his rear and scooting around the floor than any poor dog deserves. We would go to our great vet who recommended we regularly have his glans expressed and tried multiple expensive types and brands of "prescription" dog foods. We finally figured it out after a lot of internet research. We identified he needed a grain free diet that would add bulk and firmness to his "business." Not just any grain free food would work. This food solved his anal glans issues and he loves it. He is absolutely symptom free and leading a much better quality of life without the digestive issues. Great food at a fair price and Amazon delivery. It just works.

If your dog is seriously overweight, I would not recommend using this. My dogs did not see a weight loss, so I contacted Blue's nutritionist, and she told me which Blue product was a better choice, as they have so many. This one has a higher calorie count. So, do some research before choosing this one. Maybe try one of the Blue Freedom's Weight Managements instead. Also, they have the "Blue Basic" line. I emailed them, but you can phone them also. With Blue Buffalo it's a science. But one thing is for sure, their food is superior. I can tell my pitbull has added muscle cos he is so much more difficult for me to control when I walk him than when I was feeding him Science Diet. The difference is amazingly noticeable. It's like he's walking me now!!!! I'm giving only 4 stars cos of the weight loss factor. Other than that, I swear by Blue.

We have been giving our dogs Blue Buffalo for a few years now. We changed over from Canidae because it was not available in our area, however, after using Blue for a few months, we noticed a good change in our dog's poo and weight. We always try to get grain free because dogs are not designed to eat the same type of balanced diet as humans. There are many factors to take into consideration when you choose a dog food for your fur child. Yes, they are your family and you should treat them as such. You don't eat out of the bottom of your trash can, so why would you feed your dog food that is the bottom of your trash can? Exactly. So, do your research on your dog breed and dog food. It's said that dogs can not break down and metabolize complex carbohydrates and cereal grains so well. These fibers and grains that are difficult-to-digest will remain undigested in your dog's belly with the body relying mainly on fermentation to break them down. And that don't smell so good. When this has gone on for a long time, it can damage the lining of your dog's digestive system. They may end up with bowel disorders, food allergies and sensitivities, leaky gut and even obesity. 🐶 THINGS TO REMEMBER 🐾Check out the ingredients label on your dog’s food or on the brand’s website. They will have loads of valuable information on the dog food. 🐾Never change dog food cold turkey. You need to slowly introduce the new dog food by mixing it in a little at a time. Rule of thumb is 25%, 50%, 75%, then 100%. Do this over the course of a few weeks so your dog’s digestive system has time to adjust. Also, you will want to keep an eye on your doggies poo to make sure they’re not constipated or suffering from diarrhea. If anything you are not comfortable with or not sure, call your Vet. 🐾Change your dog's flavor every once in a while. Changing foods periodically helps to ensure that no dietary deficiencies or excesses build up over time. I mean you don't eat the same thing every day right? So why should they? We are very happy with Blue Buffalo Grain Free dog food and so are our dogs! 🐾🐾

Dog seems to love it, and the allergic symptoms she has on other, cheaper food have vanished completely
