The on/off switch is barely visible along the rim of the base of the lanterns.Somehow, magically, the red one turned on when I unscrewed it--but then--it wouldn't turn off when I tightened it down. I thought it was defective but decided I could remove a battery (they're easy to get to) and pop it in and out when needed. I only paid 5 bucks for it, I thought to myself...Then, the blue one wouldn't turn on no matter what I did--another 5 bucks--so...in a fit of pique,,,I threw it across the room, it bounced off the wall, broke in two pieces and turned on. It was only when I was putting it back together that I discovered the cleverly disguised, unobtrusive, elegantly designed on/off switch. I was able to put the lantern back together--good as new!So, as a result of my poor eyesight, impatience, and propensity towards violence to property, I've concluded that these are really cool little personal lanterns for camping. Plus, I can personally attest to their durability and workmanship having survived the "20 ft hardball throw" and "bounce off the wall" testing procedures They're bright enough to light up a room to see what's in it or find your way to the bathroom. Just last night my friend lost an earring in a parking lot. Pulled this blue baby out of my car and voila what was lost was found and I only paid 5 bucks for it...

Small, but powerful lanterns. They are the size of the palm of your hand, both closed or popped open. Bought them for my grandson and he loves them. You do have to feel around the edge of the base, for a small square push button, that is flush to the casing, to power on/off. It's not all that visible, since it's the exact same color as the lantern. Completely plastic. Stores easily, by popping down or up. You do receive 2.

Bought for my son to use to read in his tent while camping. Great little light! Easy to open and put in batteries. Very compact. Think he will enjoy them!

Very compact yet give off plenty of light.

Left one if these lights on all night by accident and it survived. They provide enough light to lit up inside a tent and are very resourceful when it comes to batteries use. Totally recommend.

they are made of cheap plastic as would be expected for the price, but they put out a lot of light.
