RelianceWater Heater 9003455 LP Gas Pilot Assembly

Smith GCV 40 101 propane fired water heater that supplies hot water to my in-floor heat in my little shop which has been cold (near 0F) here in Northern MN since the thermocouple died. The pilot light on my propane water heater kept going out and leaving me short of hot water. I cleaned the lint trap several times and vacuumed around the base thinking there was an air intake restriction. Of course the thing would light right up and go a few more days, only to go out AGAIN w/o warning. Cussed thing!! You can take the small gas line that feeds the pilot light loose at the gas control valve and blow through it. That'll blow the dust out of the pilot nozzle inside the burner chamber and fix the problem. If you want to REALLY clean the thing out and be done with it for months, use an air compressor to do the blowing. Did that months ago, and haven't had a problem since. So, I haven't had to install this pilot assembly, but glad to have it on hand.

Works great on our 606 model. This is the second time I have replaced this part. The first one lasted 3 years, what I paid back in 2016 was $40 at Ace Hardware. The price has increased significantly over the past 3 years. If it fails again it may b more cost effective for me to just buy a new water heater if these keep doubling in price.

Worked as expected to repair an AO Smith model GCV 40 101 water heater. This was pretty easy to install and included all needed parts/accessories. Much cheaper than replacing the whole burner assembly as the manufacturer would like you to do. Be sure to clean out all of the debris in the burn chamber and brush off the air intake disc with a plastic bristle brush while everything is open.

Easy to install with everything one needs. Ahh the joy of hot water with no huge plumber bill. I would not attempt this if you are out of shape and have problems getting up often from the floor.

Received it a day earlier than expected, roughly 18 hours after ordering (!!!). Exact match for an AO Smith Promax GCVL 40 101, came with a new cover gasket and a nice wrap-around filter, good enclosed instructions if you're not practiced at installing. Really couldn't be more pleased.

I installed this in an A.O. Smith water heater. Reliance appears to use the exact same thermocoupler. The benifit of this part is that I didn't have to buy the entire burner assembly saving me a couple of hundred dollars. Installed easily and works great.
