2nd One Added to the House - Great with SmartThings
This thing integrates perfectly and easily with SmartThings which, in turn, now integrates nicely with Alexa. If you already have a deadbolt installed, this literally will take you 10 minutes to have mechanically installed and paired to your hub.My first one has been running for about 18 months flawlessly. I have changed the batteries that came with in that time and it is still running on second set that I purchased; so as you can see battery life is good. The Z-Wave functionality has been solid. I have a few automations programed that use the lock and it hasn't let me down once. One of the great things about this is the ability to have individual codes. I have set it up to let me know on my phone when the door is opened and I can keep track of the kids returning to the house. The ability to add a temporary pin has been great when we have needed someone to Pet sit. That combined with sensors showing when doors open and close let us know when and how long the sitter was in the house. In addition, once you no longer need them to have access, you are on the way home, you can delete the pin.The other function that I find very useful is the auto-lock; albeit I have replaced that functionality with a smarter automation on SmartThings. You can set this lock to auto-lock after a set period of time. Its built-in function will allow up to three minutes. There is one caveat, if a person doesn't completely shut the door, the bolt will try to shut and cycle against the frame. It took a while to get the kids out of the habit of partially shutting the door and either shutting to latch or leaving open if they come back in. For the latter, I wrote a smartthings automation that senses when door is closed (I have contact sensors) and then locks the lock. The front door, being used less frequently is set to shorter duration than that of the entrance to the garage.Overall, this is a very good lock, especially a good value when it goes on sale. Fit and finish is good. Installation instructions and hardware is very good. The ability to use a Z-wave device was the kicker for me. I prefer the hub-dumber smart device method. That is to say, I want home automation without everything being able to get to the internet. Z-wave and zigbee does just this. With the recent improvements to SmartThings and Alexa, this device is a solid addition to any smart home.

Reliable lock that works well with HomeKit ( and comparison to Kevo)
I really like this lock. To start, I will say that I bought this lock with my own money and have not been asked by anyone to write this review. I was a fairly early adopter of smart locks having preordered the first generation Kevo when it was announced. I’ve had the original Kevo and then the Kevo second gen when it came out. I was convinced Kevo was the best option out there for now despite it being somewhat unreliable. When it came time to put a lock on my garage, I was about to put another Kevo on that door as well but decided to give the Yale Assure a try. I put the old Kevo on my garage and the new Assure on my home’s front door to see if it would give us a better experience than we had with the Kevo. Although it is not as mindless to operate as touching the lock with your finger to lock or unlock it like you do with the Kevo, the Assure ended up being far better in my opinion. Locking is just as easy as the Kevo since you simply touch the keypad with the back of a few fingers and it locks. Unlike the Kevo, the Assure locks immediately and 100% of the time with a single touch whereas the Kevo was maybe 80% on the first touch and took a few seconds to process the request. The Kevo became frustrating when you’d touch it, wait a few seconds, and find that it didn’t respond so you had to try again. As far as unlocking, the Kevo again was very simple as it only takes a touch of the lock with a finger, hand, elbow, or whatever is available when you’re carrying bags of groceries into the house but again, it was only about 80% on the first try and the rest of the time took an extra tap and another 2-3 seconds to respond and unlock. The Assure on the other hand can be unlocked by typing in the user set passcode, asking Siri to unlock it, or quickly getting to HomeKit through the iPhone control center and tapping unlock. Since I keep my phone in a cell phone holder on my car’s dash when driving, I find it very easy to tap unlock or ask Siri to unlock the front door as I’m pulling up to my house and then it’s already unlocked by the time I get to the door. Unlike with the Kevo, I no longer have to stand at my door tapping it the lock once, twice, or even three times to get it to open sometimes. I, by the way, am not trying to put down Kevo, I owned one for several years and still feel that it is one of the best options currently available, just not the best for me any longer. And for those familiar with Kevo, yes, I have done calibrations, installed software updates, kept my phone (or the fob) in a consistent location in my front pocket, uninstalled and reinstalled the software/app and lock within the app, etc... to troubleshoot. My wife actually just gave up on it at times in favor of using her key. For anyone that wants a physical key for grandma, they Kevo is a good option. Another situation where Kevo would win over the Assure is in the case where you only have one door; the Assure doesn’t have a key hoe so if the battery dies, you have to run to the store to buy a 9V battery to touch to the bottom of it to get inside. If your Assure is your only door lock and the electronics in it fail, you’d have no way to get inside other than breaking a window. If you have HomeKit and have a second door to your house with a physical key lock as a backup, the Assure is a really good option. I still have the Kevo and just put it on my garage which I don’t access as often as my front door but after using the Assure for a few months now, I’m considering putting an Assure on the garage as well and just using the Kevo for another side door. I suppose I should mention August briefly as well. I almost bought an August instead of the Assure when I was looking for something to replace my Kevo but when I saw the physical size of it in person at a local electronics store, not just looking at photos online, I was turned off by the enormity of it. August seems like a cool lock with great options and functionality but I just couldn’t bring myself to put something that size on my front door. If August wants to send me one, I’d put it on my door and give it a try I suppose but for now, the Assure is the lock for me; I have zero complaints about it to date and couldn’t ask for more. Hard to believe as I can most often list out several pros and cons to just about any device.

Very easy to install, and a good price for what you get.
UPDATE 10,10,21 We've now had the lock for almost a year and are very happy with it. We've had no issues with the APP or the lock itself. As for battery life, I just changed them after 9 months. The batteries still read 34%, but I change them out anyway as the lock mechanism was starting to slow down. It still ran fine, but you could tell it was moving slower. After replacing the batteries, it is now back up to speed and working as advertised. Love it!I purchased this when another lock did not work in my door housing. I read the reviews and watched the videos to make sure this is what I wanted. Turns out, this was a good purchase. The lock is quality, and the install was easy, and it saves my wife from rummaging around for a key in her purse. (And grumbling at me to install a automatic lock...)Answers to questions you may have -Yes, the app works well. (It's not holy cow wow...but it works for what is needed.)Yes, the touch pad lights up when activated. (Very nice for evening returns.)Yes, the batteries last quite a long time. (Have yet to run out of juice)Yes, the install was easy. (Just be a little tech savvy and you should have no issue)Yes, it works with IOS Home. Just enter the code and you're off and running. (Siri now locks and unlocks our door without any issue.)However... you must make sure your strike plate whole is large enough and on center for this lock to work correctly!! Meaning, if your door does not shut normally without having to slam, push, or lift, you will have to fix that issue BEFORE installing this lock. Thankfully, our door closes easily in winter and in summer months. I did have to make the whole a little larger, but no issue since. If you door is off kilter even a little, or is effected by climate, you need to reconsider or fix the door issues ahead of time.Hope his helps.

Awesome lock! Highly recommend
I got this lock because it syncs with my Ring Alarm system. so when i unlock the deadbolt, or someone i have come over enters their code, the deadbolt actually turns off the alarm system without them having to go to the keypad and enter the alarm code. technology is really coming along with locks like this. I can lock or unlock the lock from my Ring app, and get notifications when the door is unlocked. It has a cool feature, when you go to leave, you just put your palm up to the touch screen and the lock, locks the door without having to enter your code. very convenient. Plan to get another yale lock for my other door, might be the yale touchscreen door handle instead of deadbolt.Im very disappointed in the Professional installation that came with this. Never actually got it installed by a professional because the guy acted like he didnt know how to do it when he came. he was only at my house for 3 mins and wanted me to pay double for installation that was included with the lock purchase. wish i could review that service because i would not recommend it to anyone. amazon tried to make things better but then the installation was never rescheduled on their end and cancelled instead. so i installed the lock myself. i won't make the mistake of trying to use that service again.
