A Favorite Toy of Mine as a Kid, Seemingly Totally Unchanged Over a Decade Later
15 years ago or so, I had one of these as a kid. I was recently birthday shopping for a nephew of mine, and wondered if they still made these. To my surprise, not only are ornithopters still made, but this seems 100% identical to the one I had as a kid, even down to the packaging. I guess if it isn't broke, don't fix it. After spending an afternoon flying it around, our little bird made several crash landings, and was totally fine. My only complaint is the tail seems a bit flimsy, particularly in the hinge where you angle it. Overall I think most any kid will have a fun time playing with this thing, and its much cheaper than a drone or RC plane.

An elegant but simple toy of flight.
This is a most surprising product that seems sturdier than it looks. This was another gift for my 7 year old grandson. With alot of cranks on the propulsion rubber band and a little wind blowing to assist the aerodynamic properties, this bird actually flies on its own when launched from the hand. It is somewhat realistic flight, especially when it lands in a tree.

Worth 5 Cents, Not $23
Broke on the third attempt to get it to fly instead of diving straight into the floor. After third, little piece that kept the wings from flapping while winding broke off inside. After 50 years, instead of this company learning how to make a better product, they've just made it cheaper and incredibly fragile. Not for kids, cats, dogs, teens or adults. No one should buy this over-priced made in China piece of plastic garbage.

Fun toy
It’s fun to see how long and far it will go. Kept my 12-year-old’s interest for awhile. Very durable. Considering it crashes every time it lands, it is still in great shape. Disappointed you have to use their rubber bands which I don’t see where you can even get replacements, so it has a limited lifetime. It also doesn’t fly that far. I got it for my child because his class read “Freak the Mighty” where one of the characters plays with an ornithopter.

Great fun for all!
I bought this for my 3 y/o grandson. He and his 34 y/o daddy love flying this bird. We had it at camp this past weekend, it went high up into the trees and almost made it to the lake. We are not lake front campers. LOL They had so much fun that they took it home with them. Great memories for sure!

Love the Bird!
This toy is a blast to fly. I had a wind up bird like this when I was a child 35 years ago that was my favorite toy. I'm elated to find one like it today for my children! My kids and I love playing with it and do so often. It flies really well. Even a 5 year old can get it flying. The plastic wings are very fragile, but mend well with packing tape. Even when it eventually tears beyond repair I plan to buy it again - it's that much fun!

The Schilling Tim bird flying toys are durable and easy to handle offering hours of great fun!
This is such a fun way to get your kiddos out-of-doors. It is very durable, easy to handle, and flaps around like a real bird,—so I bought two of them this order after I saw how much fun my other grandchildren had with them.

Really cool idea, broke on first day of use
This is a really cool bird! A friend had one and my kids played with it all the time. Bought it as a Christmas gift for my son since he liked it some much and it broke the first day. It is not very durable, when it came down it hit the ground and one wing broke in 2 spots. For almost $20 I wish we could have gotten more use out of it.

Un juguete fantástico, pero hay que tener cuidado ya que es algo frágil y podría romperse.

Always been a fan of Tim Bird. They are not easily available in India (though they are easily available in quite a few european countries), I had one as a kid and wanted my son to experience one as well. What's unique about the bird (apart from the cheer and fascination it brings in Children's eyes) is the ease with which you can explain mechanics of flying (and help your kids pronounce ornithopters). A design originally adapted from Leonardo Da Vinci, its a welcome change from the remote control toys that kids play with today! Learning with fun can't get better!!
