TIC GS3-8" Outdoor Weather-Resistant Omnidirectional In-Ground Speaker

I purchased two GS-3 speakers for use in our backyard and have been very impressed. I was concerned that they wouldn't be loud nor sound "good enough" for my space (approximately 50'x 70' area), but I hooked them up 3 weeks ago and have been very happy with the purchase. I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, mainly a guy who likes to listen to a lot of different types of music through a good set of speakers (and whose wife is constantly asking me to "turn it down"). I must say that this pair were better than I expected. For my setup, I purchased a small Pyle amplifier and ran some conduit with some 14g CL-2 wire. The wire runs are approximately 50 ft from the source. The GS-3's look to be well crafted, sealed, with a heavy protected speaker wire exiting from the base. Instructions are included giving a few different options for placing speakers (typically, the higher off the ground and the closer to a wall, the better the sound). I had hooked them up in my garage to see how they sounded initially and was a little worried that they wouldn't perform well. Once I got them situated in their final locations outside (knee height and around 1 foot away from a perimeter wall), the sound was amplified and clear. With the amplifier, I am able to change bass and treble settings and am very happy with the levels the speakers provide. The levels that I'm playing these at are for background music, but can be pushed much higher, but I'm not looking to disturb the rest of the neighborhood. Note: I will follow up on "construction quality" in a few months, but for now I'm giving them 5 stars. For Customer Service, I've given 4 stars, but I haven't dealt with the manufacturer as of yet. I was looking at other outdoor speakers, but I read the positive feedback on these speakers and decided to jump (which is why I'm writing this - I like to read what others have to say about what I'm looking into purchasing). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these speakers for anyone who wants some great sounding outdoor speakers - although I'm not sure they would fit the bill for those that need the booming bass or tons of power. They fit my needs perfectly, which is to provide some great sounding background music when I'm outside. 3/2013 Update: I've had these for approximately 1.5 years and they are holding up very well. I keep them outside in the full NM sun from approximately May - October and they haven't broken down or gotten brittle (I disconnect and put them in the garage during the winter). I do utilize the weatherproof speaker wire connectors when I hook them up at the beginning of the season, but otherwise they sit out and sound wonderful. Weather-wise, they've held up against high UV sun, high wind, rain and snow and they've had no issues. I've thought about purchasing the bass unit (TIC-GS 50), but I really have all the sound that I need with these two speakers. I'm still really impressed with the sound from these units for the price. I'd highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to purchase these again.

I bought these speakers in 2023. It is 2026 and these speakers are GREAT! Sounds quality is awesome. Incredibly durable and very easy to setup!

If you are considering adding outdoor speakers, look no further! These speakers sound great! I have had several people ask me if they are the LUXURY brand speakers that you pay too much for and obviously my answer is no! I like a value, and these give you great value for the money. Nice full range sound at a fraction of the price of competitors. I will be purchasing more in the future! After reading some of the reviews I was concerned about connection, but there is not issue with connections or breakdown of the product. Connecting the positive and negative were seamless and they have held up with no issue in the Florida sun and the little Florida winter of North Florida!

Over the past thirty years I have had to replace these outdoor speakers about three times. They are outdoors in my backyard and subject to rain, sunshine, hot and cold weather, sprinkler strikes and other environmental insults. They always sounded great and lasted along time considering what they got through. I recently had to replace one speaker because the flower bed it was buried in flooded incessantly due to some torrential rains over several days. The replace meant speaker sported one difference. The cables that enter into the bottom now are part of a screw-in receptacle. this should make them more weatherproof and subject to less flood damage. I would recommend buying these reasonably priced speakers.

1-Year Update - Still going strong! These have been hit with plenty of rain in the last year. South Louisiana weather at its best. Still sound great and function as they should. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy these again. 5 Star for VALUE! I’m am not an audiophile nor an expert in sound quality but i am an avid sound system hobbyist ranging from home to car audio. I opted for a pair of these because you can buy three pairs for the price of one pair of Bose. I connected them to a pioneer receiver with about 55 watts rms. Honestly, they sound great. The lows are pronounced and don’t muddy very much at extreme high volume. The mids come through great also. The highs are a little bright even with EQ adjustment. That’s just the nature of the components and the enclosure. And they go really loud without much distortion. Make no mistake, there is no way that a speaker that cost $200 a piece can sound three times better than these do. For the price, if I get three years out of them, I’m happy. It’s likely they will last at least that long with the polymer woofer and design of the cabinet. You don’t have to take my word for it. Buy a pair and try them out in your living room. Don’t like them, return them. I promise saving 300 bucks will make these feel as good as they sound.

These speakers have met/exceeded my expectations. I was considering the Bose free space, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend THAT much on something that would be exposed to all sorts of weather conditions and could possibly be stolen. I discovered (w/a little research) that I could hardwire these w/ 12-2 gauge landscape wire (speaker wire is too high and this is the same thing) to my 17 year old Kenwood receiver. My receiver is located in the living room so I ran wire from the back of the receiver, through the floor, through the crawlspace and into the backyard. I buried each speaker on opposite ends of my flower bed and attached them both to the landscape wire. I buried all of this wire in the ground. What makes it all work is the hockey puck shaped $30 Chromecast audio device. I attached it to the CD inputs on the receiver. You then connect it to your Wi-Fi router. This allows me to control the backyard speakers on my phone or iPad via my Wi-Fi connection. Most of my music is on Spotify so I just go to Spotify and then select where I want to play it. The speakers really sound outstanding w/nice bass, highs and mids. I took a video to try and capture the sound, but it really doesn't do it justice so I'm going to leave it off. All of my friends are audio snobs so everybody was suggesting the Sonos connect and/or the wireless Bose free space...all of which would have cost almost 10 times as much. Keep in mind that I do not have the Bose free space sitting side-by-side to compare. I would expect the Bose to sound better, but I doubt it would have sounded 10 times better because that's how much more it would have cost me. I'm happy to have saved a ton of money that I can spend elsewhere in my yard.

I finally installed these speakers over a long weekend. I purchased two of these and ran 12 gauge low-voltage landscape lighting cable to them from my entertainment center in the living room (approximately 100' run). As far as installation goes, with the exception of burying the cable it was very easy. I used the optional TIC cable connectors for the final connection and installed both speakers in large planting pots spaced approximately 30 feet apart on either end of my pool patio. I then filled the pots with river rock such that the speaker top was about 6 inches above the lip of the pot. My 20X40' pool runs parallel to my house approximately 16 feet from my back door and these are on the far side of my pool. The minute you come out the back door you are immmersed in sound. I think placing them in a somewhat elevated location really improves the sound field. These are billed as omni-directional and they are true to this, you really get immersed in the sound field no matter where you are in my backyard now. I have pandora running from my blue ray into my tuner and jammed out to anything you can think of all weekend long. My neighbor came over and is now interested as they sound great. Great bass response, good high end, these things have created a whole new environment in my backyard, I absolutely love them. ************4/1/2017 UPDATE********* So I just purchased a replacement for one of my speakers, the foam had started to deteriorate and the support for the upper piece was rusted, I then proceeded to crack the top, made sense to replace the whole unit for what it would cost to replace these parts. Once you add up all of the replacement pieces you would come out cheaper buying a new unit. Not bad for seven years outdoors in the hot sun and weather!! I think this particular unit also got hit by my sprinkler system so I will be adjusting the sprinkler heads appropriately.

Just replaced my 2 speakers that have been in the ground totally uncovered for 20 years! Great sound and long lasting!

Debo decir que por el precio y su calidad para exteriores estoy muy contento, los he puesto en mi patio (de aprox 18m x 6m) y el sonido es magnífico, los he conectado aun amplificador Lepy 2.0 y estoy satisfecho. Son de tamaño pequeño por lo combinan bien y se pierden a la vista con el paisaje del césped.

Love these speakers!!!! Bought them to compliment 2 speakers mounted to the back of the house. The sound from these speakers is great. The 360 degree sound projection ensure that the sound fills your yard from all directions. Really great value for the price. Much better than rock speakers.

These speakers have been around for a long time, you see them at many theme parks, I owned a pair for many years at a previous home, I find them to have a great sound, nice bass, and good dispersion wherever you are around them because of the 360 degree output
