Wise Investing Made Simpler: Larry Swedroe's Tales to Enrich Your Future (Second in a series) (The Focus Investor Series)

Any book by Larry Swedroe should be required reading for the beginning individual investor. This book is an excellent concise review of the investment process and asset selection. It gives interesting real life examples of investor errors and provides data to support his recommendations. Hopefully, this book will encourage the reader to read Swedroe's other books and avoid much of the "financial pornography" which floods the market. Larry's mantra is the superiority of the strategy of investing in "low-cost, passively managed index funds". The reader should consider Larry's other current book on creating an investment plan. This book is another gem and mandatory reading for all investors. The Only Guide You'll Ever Need for the Right Financial Plan: Managing Your Wealth, Risk, and Investments (Bloomberg)

This is my favorite book from Swedroe, it is very similar to its prequel but seemed to strike a chord with me more than the first. Everyone should read this book.....EVERYONE. It is not some stupid book to get you rich fast, but it will help both novice and experienced investors understand how markets work. The title says it all, very simple to understand and most people could probably read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I strongly encourage all financial professionals to read this book. It will change the way you look at your job.

The newly updated Wise Investing Made Simpler is, in my opinion, one of Larry Swedroe's best books on investing....and I have read all his books. Our RIA has used Larry's books with current and potential clients for nearly 10 years. This new book is easier to read and goes into subjects other than just "investing"...I think it will be a better tool for educating our clients. We are ordering a 30-book case from our supplier.

I have read Wise Investing Made SIMPLER, and I have it in hot stand-by for a second look. I concur with Mel's comments, both novice and veterans can benefit and learn from this book. I continue to learn from Larry's books. I like the format, and I like the great collection of stories (analogy/real life examples). The book is divided in 32 chapters. On chapters 1 through 31 you will get to know a lot of characters, some of them will bring back memories. Chapter 4, dealing with "The Price of Friendship" hit close to home. The closing chapter (32) deals with "18 retirement-related issues and the mistakes individuals make" and page 183, dealing with "Becoming Too Conservative an Investor" was an eye opener. My recommendation is to buy this book, read it, read it again--and have your spouse read it too. If for some reason you are not able to buy a copy, just drop by your favorite public library--public libraries are my kind of place--and do a quick review. If you are reaching retirement age, take a look at chapter 32. Thanks Larry for writing QUALITY, NO-NONSENSE type of books. Let me give kudos to Team Amazon for delivering my books ahead of time. Wise Investing Made Simpler is an excellent collection of short "tales" which convey practical wisdom about investing. Both novice and "seasoned" investors can benefit from reading the selection of situations he describes and contemplating the final paragraph of each story - which is entitled" "The Moral of the Tale"

Wise Investing Made Simpler by Larry Swedroe is not the typical guide to investing, rather a series of short stories to help one develop their own investment philosophy and policy. An easy and enjoyable read. My adult children should be expecting copies for Christmas.

My husband does most of the investing and management of funds here. I'm glad to have the volume for future reference. Bought it new from Amazon.
